How good is the Panthers' medical staff?

Going from memory, why are our players NOT healing?  Look at what has happened to core players over the past 2-3 years:

  • OT Williams comes back before we thought he would/should, re injures knee (during a contract year too).  We all figured the knee was not as bad as initially reported.  He did not complete his first game back.  To IR, misses season--career ending?
  • TE Olsen hurts foot in 2017 and plays seven games--has surgery.  Injures same foot in 2018, plays nine games.  To IR.  Thank God Marty extended his deal.

  • QB Cam Newton has shoulder surgery in March, 2017---about 3 months after the season ends. Waiting 3 months to have surgery was curious.   Misses camp, rehabbing.  This year, the same injury resurfaces.
  • C Ryan Kalil had recurring injuries in 2016 and 2017.  Neck.  Played a total of 16 games in 2 seasons.

Recurring injuries to core players are too common here.  As we enter the off-season, the only player listed above without a big question mark is Ryan Kalil, who is retiring.  I know NFL players play hurt, but there seems to be some malpractice going on here.  Please, do not lecture me about football injuries--these are not normal situations.

Is Ron too involved in the players' recovery timetables, rehab?   Are the team doctors/trainers/strength coach on the same page?

I wonder....

Players see specialists in private practices around Charlotte and beyond all the time. My wife used to work for one. She saw a different player almost every week.

Sure--but they (trainers/med staff) oversee the players' recovery--communicate with doctors, develop rehab programs, etc.

I have said in the past that the medical team sucks and strength and conditioning team. How was KB and Dj Moore tired and winded from running which is what wrs do. KB wasn' a good example but it looks to me the trainers dont push the guys nor does the medical staff and Ron. Ron defers to medical staff, medical staff defers to players.

This is a legit question that goes back a bit further IMO.  Why was Thomas Davis allowed on the practice field during OTA's after his first ACL tear in 2009 season without a knee brace?

And why did they allow Jon Beason so quickly back on the field during the 2011 opener when it was clear his Achilles was acting up?

We only have one more game

Very solid points. I will point out Torrey Smith had knee surgery and no one knew about it. Not saying that’s a bad medical move, but why didn’t anyone know? Maybe we could use a better trainer?

You implying that a player's medical history being kept private is somehow a bad thing? I don't understand your comment or how it applies to the quality of the Panthers medical team.

You could just as easily ask “how is their strength and conditioning program?”

Oh no of course not, I’m just saying what else is being hid. Did it botch is that why it was hid? Normally we hear about those things but his was kept hush hush for some reason. I can’t assumre to know what they are telling Cam, nor assume his injury, I was just asking why the secrecy with some things?

edit: This is probably not a good thread to bring this up, but I didn’t want to start a new one and it involved the medical staff.

Actually, the difference between NFL medical staffs is non fuging existent, nimrods

This unsupported comment is confusing because it makes no sense---impossible, if you want to know the truth.

    • Most EVs are in the 90+ e-MPG meaning some measurement house somewhere compares the EV to a similar ICE model and works out how much is costs to charge (on average) versus fill up as a point of comparison. Talking long term, in the hundreds of thousands of miles?  No clue.  Some early signs are that EV batteries maintain 80% charge over 400k miles.  So there's that.   The challenge and charm of an ICE vehicle is being able to park it under a tree, get your jack stands out and tinker with your engine.  There's just not that same level of complexity in an EV.  I saw someone estimate there are 200 or so moving parts in an EV, and 2000 in an ICE vehicle.  I'm not a part counter so I can't really speak to that. I think that the EV is more the future than any type of combustion engine.  Those will still be around in specific purposes, but for most people - an EV will be the superior option in terms of efficiency.  I say that as someone who loves stupid horsepower numbers out of turbo 4 bangers and inline 6s...  I am one of those tinkers when I can be. A bigger issue for EVs is going to be the ownership versus lease.  Right now, there are INSANE leases on EVs, which is great, but what do you have at the end of that lease?  Nada, maybe some equity if you're lucky.  Where as I'm almost done paying for my car, and plan to keep it until the wheels fall off (or my son wrecks it when he starts to drive).  Will EV makers do the smartphone thing and build in planned obsolesce?  Stop updating software?  I love the tech in EVs, and I think getting more cars and trucks off the road is a good thing.  But I am still just a little concerned.  Capitalism has gotten far too extractive.
