Yeah...it's was probably after one of his every other poo years...but I don't dislike Cam.

He just throws high and he's very inconsistent...but I don't dislike Cam.

When good Cam shows up it's like WOW.  But when bad cam shows...it's freaking ugly...but I don't dislike Cam.

Since 2015.....good Cam can't show up for more then 2 weeks at a time...but I don't dislike Cam.

To what end are the Panthers getting a QB this offseason? As insurance if Cam shoulder fades off again? Because there's been nothing to suggest he's going to miss this upcoming season.

So insurance? How?

You're not going to draft a QB high, you missed out on that ship, its dumb, and there's nobody there anyways.

Draft one low? That is completely pointless. It is a wasted pick.

So you sign some Sam Bradford in FA who can step in and battle you to 8-8 and the 21st pick next offseason?

Newton is partially right. The Panthers have to boldly face the issue here. But its going to take having foresight as well, and Newton's strategy possesses none of that. Its nothing more than NEED QB -> GET QB and it is the very same "rational guy" approach that teams like Cleveland made season after season while they floundered, marching out an endless array of journeymen rather than doing what needed to be done.

If the Panthers need a new QB, then they need the 1st pick in the draft next offseason. Not some grizzled lunchpail warriors who do some but not enough, and not some worthless late round QB.

And if the Panthers need the #1 pick in the draft next offseason, they need to start preparing to make a run at that today-by moving away from other players and accruing picks.

We don't need the number one pick to find a good qb.  Sure Mayfield and Newton we're the number one's...but so was Bortles.

ESPN Splits has throws broken down by yards in the air from LOS. Cam hasn't completed a pass thrown further 30 yards from LOS in 2 years. Used to be one of his strengths, in 2015, actually had a better QB rating on those throws than overall.

I hope he comes back strong, but I don't know if he can.

Have you seen our record the last 2 seasons versus the rest of the NFC South?

If we don't get pass rush established for 2019, it's going to be more of the same.

We were in plenty of situations to flat out win games this past season, even with a paltry pass rush. The biggest problem this season was turnovers in/near the red zone, and missed opportunities in the passing game. Mind you, we may not have ultimately gotten to the Super Bowl, but the way the defense was improving towards season's end, the postseason was almost a surety without the problems in the passing game, notwithstanding a relatively weak(ish) pass rush.

The ugency is that without knowing if or when Cam will recover we have no QB.  Without knowing that you can't determine if they just need a temporary fill-in or the next franchise QB.  Each option presents a vastly different challenge so you kinda need to know where we you are so you can plan the future, proactive instead of reactive.  Besides Newton's prognosis will greatly effect whether he gets an extension, which is just around the corner.

There were games where our defense played well enough. But don't let the final two games of the season overshadow just how awful the defense was at times. That performance in Pittsburgh isn't easy to forget, not for me at least. You can forget postseason talk playing like that in primetime.

Most of us that have paid attention have known this since his surgery.  He's been on a pitch count ever since.  And this past season he wasn't even practicing by the halfway point.  But Ron thought it would be ok with rest.  FUBAR.

Bring in another Qb who isn’t complete poo to compete with Allen for 2019. See where Cam stands during that season. If his shoulder is shot we will know next year and can start planning accordingly. This years draft for qbs isn’t good. Bulk up the o line and pass rush as much as possible this draft and look for 2020 to draft a qb if necessary
