Cutting ties with Thomas Davis will have more negative effects on the Panthers than cutting ties with Steve Smith

Horrible decision by Tepper, Hurney, and Rivera. He will be missed. Good luck bringing guys like Eric Reid back to lead the locker room.

Keep Poundnig TD, I thank you for your service and wish you the best of luck.

I'm more concerned with this being leaked when there is no incentive to do so. Even if the decision was made, go enjoy the month and come back in February. We still have to make a decision regarding Mayo, and there are some other moves that need to be made to clear up cap space.

Ugh... thank you tho TD... it had been an absolute pleasure to see your inspirational ascension above adversity.

Hurney has had a history of paying too much for players past their prime. It’s time for younger guys to start becoming leaders. I love TD and his passion, but this is not worse than the Steve Smith situation. Steve Smith got cut, TD’s contract is simply done. I know their were talks of him willing to take a pay cut and reduced role, but that could also be his agent trying to add pressure on our front office...

TD replaced someone and the person who replaced TD will be replaced as well... You guys probably wish Joe Montana was still your QB.  This franchise and its fans are so accustomed to old outdated players and it sickens me.  Also, Peppers shouldn't come back.

I understand the business side of letting TD go, but where is the voice of our head coach or maybe owner to address the changes and more importantly the direction the team is going.

Everyone knows the season was a total failure.  Not talking about it doesn’t change that.  I bet Ron is too cowardly to step up and make a statement about moving on from TD, despite the pillar of professionalism and community this guy has been throughout his career.  Seriously, fug this whole F.O. straight to hell, all of them.

It's about optics this time of year.  It should just be coaching hires and playoff games right now.  There is no reason to do it this way and honestly, this is already more leveling than the Smitty one so I do agree with the thread premise.

With Smitty, he was the bloodforce of this organization but it was time for the mantle to be passed to Cam and it was just a hard thing to do.  TD made public his wish to take a pay cut and be part of the team even in a limited role.

Tepper, Hurney, Rivera...all quiet.  The entire staff who lead the team to a 1-7 record in the second half of the season remains.  We're only hearing whispers through reports.  They have cornered themselves with fishiness, and really have to get on the podium and explain what's up.  If not, it's just going to get more people upset and eventually apathetic.

Are they just expecting fans to buy in bc it's an NFL team?

    • What I love and hate about this team is it’s more filled with potential breakout players than ever before. JT, XL, Coker, Smith-Wade, Ikem, Trevin… and even Bryce are all guys I could legitimately see taking the next step. But the problem with having so many of those guys is that team success somewhat relies on them taking that step, and some are bound not to. That being said, I’m cautiously optimistic given our softer schedule, the way the offense clicked late last year, and the direction we finally have at GM, coach, and QB. Could see us as a sneaky playoff team.

    • Smith-Wade for me. He has the path to some decent hefty snaps in Evero’s scheme. He held his own last year and improved as he continued to get snaps— If he makes some strides, could be a very capable nickel.  I agree with Sanders. Bryce had some trust in him that final Falcons game post crazy head-stand.  Bryce looked for him a lot that final game and made some critical catches to get us the W. Seems he’s put in major work so I’m hopeful about him.  Wallace will have an offseason under his belt. I like him a lot, was higher graded than most remember in his draft (I.e Brugler had him LB3/70 overall) but he isn’t as cerebral of an LB as we’re used to. I think he could thrive if we get D captain/film-junky type next to him— because right now that’s Jewell.  Still a bit cautious but love the talent. Rozeboom may snag some playing time from him if he’s still working out the kinks.
