Understand this, I feel like Im calling out a Titan these last couple of weeks when you and I have exchanged opinions.

You are a far more knowledgeable football guy than I am.

I just refuse to believe that we know everything that went into the decision.

I don't need to know everything. I can see the results.

It was a stupid thing to do.

What a simple-minded argument...

The question is simple: would CJ Anderson have helped us win more games this year? It’s funny cause I could’ve sworn 99% of our complaints during the season were about our defense, our injured quarterback, or our offensive line (honorable mention: Devin Funchess). Can’t recall anyone criticizing our run game as a contributor to our losing streak...and to do so now would be revisionist history.

But hey, two great players are better than one! Even if they’re gonna be riding the bench 90% of the time...hey look, you just made a case for every luxury pick we made in the draft in the past several years. Vernon Butler and Shaq Thompson must have still been great picks in your mind.

Pointing out that our team is coached by idiots doesn't actually make this look like a smart decision.

i literally cannot believe the people who say stupid poo like "well we have CMC so anderson doesn't matter". rams have todd gurley AND CJ anderson AND they are going to the NFCCG.

They have a complete team. We have a poo o-line, poo d-line, poo dbs, and a qb with one arm.

Yes, if used properly.  Had we perhaps sit a hurt Cam, put in a back up and relied heavily on a two headed rushing attack, yeah I could see a few more wins.  We wernt exactly playing many juggernaugts in that 7 game streak.

So you would keep a single exceptional player if he was a risk to locker room cohesion?

If he's unhappy, you can either respond and listen to what he has to say or you can tell him to sit down and shut up. That's part of being a head coach.

Cutting a good player and hurting our depth is a stupid move. You hurt your own team and reward him by doing so.

Rivera's own statements since the transaction show just how idiotic it was.

Mccaffrey was averaging less than 2 ypc in the redzone, you think Anderson wouldn’t have helped in those RZ runs???

Why the hell did we cut Steve Smith?

He didn't come to camp out of shape.

If you think cutting him for making a mistake in the Atlanta game was a good idea, then I'm going to assume you're prepared to cut Cam Newton for the mistakes he made this year, right? Ditto DJ Moore, Donte Jackson, Christian McCaffrey and various others who had major mistakes and games this year.

and boy, the Rams sure look stupid for letting Anderson take carries away from Gurley tonight, don't they?

Yeah because Gurley and his 8 yards a carry really struggled tonight.

And yes to answer your question I have less of a leash for a vet on a one year deal then I do for a rookie on a 4 year deal. CJ was a late signing with us this year since no other teams were all that interested and when we cut him again no other teams were that interested for a couple weeks... quit acting like Ron is blind for not seeing this coming and every other coach did

like I said, a lot of backs can look great in short stretches of games. Anderson is good but far from a premier back.

    • Through 2 games cltfc has 12 shot attempts. Opponents 23 shots on target. Attack sucks, Defense definitely sucks. Kahlina is the only reason they haven't given up 14 goals in two games.
    • I met a few times--never liked him. I figured he might have had a bad day--but then realized that he must have a lot of bad days. Once he raised his voice at my son because my son did not understand a question when SS was signing his jersey.  I wanted the jersey to represent his encounter with a Panther great, not some small man with a bad attitude.  I told me son, "Forget it.  He was asking you what your name is (My son was about 7 and told me that he thought Smitty was going to write (my son's) name on the jersey.  He said "Dad, I thought he was supposed to write HIS name on the jersey, not mine."  I said, "He was personalizing it, writing it to you--like a birthday card."  He is now grown, and he has a steve smith Jersey that is framed and matted.  He keeps it is his closet.  I asked him, "Why not have that out on your wall?"  He said, "All I remember is an A-hole scribbled on my shirt.  I don't remember a legend or hero.  But he had a Jake Delhomme Jersey on his wall.  "Jake was great.  I will always remember that."  (Jake stayed and talked to us for about 5 minutes or more--GREAT guy.)
    • Is it possible for someone to regress in maturity as they age or has Steve really just been a jerk his entire life?
