Losing an assistant to the Bills

Mr. Scot

Recommended Posts

(not that this is exactly a new thing)

Specifically, assistant special teams coach Heath Farwell. He'll be replacing Danny Crossman as the Bills special teams coach (PFT)

You might say that an assistant position coach doesn't really mean that much, but hey remember when all our secondary problems were traced to Jeff Imamura?

If the Panthers do decide to replace him, there's well traveled - most recently Detroit - coach Joe Marciano (if he'd accept an assistant job). Fun fact on him: He was a coach on the USFL team that Sam Mills played for in Philadelphia.  More recently he was in Minnesota while Norv Turner was there.

There's also Ron Zook. Yes, that Ron Zook that coached the Florida Gators. He was recently an ST assistant and then ST coach in Green Bay.

And then...there's recently fired Bills ST Coach, and former Panthers ST Coach...Danny Crossman. He's not directly connected to Rivera, but who knows? Maybe McDermott would recommend him.

Wasn’t Blackburn’s fault. Gano was awful in 2016 and 2017 playoffs.

Hurney just didn’t feel like Norwell was a better keeper than Gano. Keep Norwell or sign Smith, Gano, Poe and Searcy.

Before you laugh at Norwell. I agree that his contract was way too much, but consider that his total contract was only $5m more than the other guys’ contracts. I’d rather have Norwell and Butker than the waste above. Gano, Smith and Searcy paid for Norwell’s first two years. Effing waste of money.

Now you turn a special team's discussion into complaining about contracts given out by Hurney last year including Gano (one of your favorite subjects to complain about).  Effing waste of a post.

It suck to lose him. Him and Blackburn made a great team, and we had a very nice special teams unit this year other than Grano sucking it up for the long stretch. As we were able to tell this year, sometimes your team suffers when you lose enough coaches to promotion on your team.

Gano wasn't awful in the playoffs. He missed a field goal but hit a 58 yarder. It's like players can either be amazing or awful on the huddle.

    • As much as I would love to sit here and bash on Young.  I can't.   He is absolutely a part of this team winning.  He is the cool hand leading the offense along with the hammer, Rico.  He's making plays on 3rd and 4th downs, that are absolutely helping thus team win.  Is Bryce playing as well as we'd like? Nope. Although he had only 1 week off from a high ankle sprain.   No question he was 100% in the Greenbay game.  I'm not even sure where the team would find a clear upgrade over Byrce.  He is a leader.  In the 4th quarter, he has ice in his veins.  He is a part of why our team is enjoyable to watch again.  Without him, we wouldn't be winning.    Anyways.  Y'all enjoy yet another thread designed to tear down the man.
    • Great article on all the Lil Canes attending their debutantes ball. Walt with a great breakdown of all the rookies, as always, and I'm a huge fan of his team coverage, he is truly a treasure, but as a fan of mixed metaphors and superfluous language which some might ignorantly refer to as a "run-on sentence" I never really understood what that mean or where to put the comma after a quote in the middle of a sentence, but holy poo Walt, this is a gem, "While there's a long road left in front of them left to determine whether or not they'll have that same success on the blue line again, the beginning stretch of the journey has been thrown a wrench, and the story on defense has been the emergence of up-and-comers forced into becoming lineup regulars." , bravo, take a bow, sir!
    • How do I activate said Krispy Kreme deal? I'm stoned man you can't be playing with me about this...
