Problem is he only played 9 games last Fall.. Even in 2017 he has only 5.5 sacks. Plus he just created his own sports agency. I wonder if he is already looking more to after the NFL before he even gets there. I wonder where his focus will be?

Only played 9 games last fall.

How many games did Bosa play last fall?  Is his stock going to take a hit?  Gary only played 9 games due to injury.  Bosa was going to be out until the last few games with a injury, yet he ended up later deciding to just shut it down.

Even in 2017 he only had 5.5 sacks

He's been playing a 3-4 DE in college.  While many think he is a better fit as a 4-3 DE.  He has been taking on double and even Triple Teams

So its understandable he didnt have Huge Sack totals.

I wonder if he is already looking more to after the NFL before he even gets there.

Every player is.  Every player has things setup.

Maybe Bosa will be overrated also.  Hard to say what a player will do but Gary's injuries should be a concern. He is only a junior so there isn't that much tape to suggest he will be great either.   Plus being a 3-4 DE in college isn't the big deal it in in the NFL. You don't get double teamed by great players every game like in the NFL. So honestly 5.5 sacks is not great. As for thinking about after the NFL, most folks don't start restaurants or businesses for example until after they actually play and establish themselves. The question isn't about being a go-getter or being smart simply where is his focus going to be.

Again

Both Bosa and Gary had injuries last year.

One, Bosa's was more severe and required him to miss about 80% of the season.  No one even mentions it and he is projected #1 by most

Gary, had a injury that only required him to miss 4 game.  Yet that will hurt his stock unlike Bosa's?

Also the 3-4 DE thing.  It goes more into what is required by the player.  Gary is a Freak.  And thought as a 4-3 DE.  A guy who sets the edge yet can still make a move inside.  What he is having to do at 3-4 DE is directly take on OGs and rush inside.  The OLBs are setting the edge like 4-3 DEs.  So he is a bad fit.

You think Pep could play the same spot as KCs Chris Jones, Jets Leonard Williams, Pitts Steven Tuitt in his prime?  No!

Not saying you’re wrong, but I won’t hold that against someone bettering them selves for a career or job long term especially one that has the average length of 4 years

Lack of production always scares me.  It’s not like the competition is going to get easier but the skill set is tempting reliably if he fell to 16.

If he falls it will depend on several factors. Namely how Sweat and Ferrell do, the could be competing for some of the same teams.  Also the number of QBs that go early

also apparently he has started his own sport agency.

Generally speaking, I agree. But, then again, JJ Watt only had 11.5 sacks in his entire college career (Gary has 9.5) and never had more than 7 in a single season. There wasn't much there in terms of statistical production to suggest that he was going to become the sack monster that he ultimately became.

    • No saying he mostly sucks is saying that he doesn’t suck the minority of the time.   Like if he took 17 tests and had a couple of really good showings and a handful of pretty good scores sprinkled in among the typical sub par results.   Like a golfer who went out and shot an 89.  There will be some real nice shots sprinkled in there but at the end of the day it is still 89.
    • It's worth mentioning... Game 1: Oct 11 in Raleigh. 4-3 OT win with a complete starting lineup. Game 2: Dec 13 in Philly. 4-3 SO win without Jaccob Slavin. Game 3: Dec 14 in Raleigh. 3-2 SO win with a complete starting lineup. Game 4: Apr 13 in Philly. 3-2 SO loss with the AHL roster.  Those early season games were no indication of the Canes team that finished the season. Miller and Ehlers were still trying to figure things out, Nikishin was still a work in progress and the Stankoven line was just another line. Make no mistake, the Canes team Philly will see is nothing close to what they saw at any point in the season. If the top line starts producing, Freddie stays hot and the blue line does what it does, this could be a sweep as well.
