For those who are wanting a DE in the first-round

I’d consider trading up a few spots to get a target DE. But if we don’t and none are there then we can look elsewhere, there are still some good day 2 prospects. And aside from the draft I hope we get 1 solid DE in FA, there will be several available.

What are you talking about? Draft position doesn't matter according to huddle, we will pick one of those up with 16

I don't want a DE in the 1st round. Most D-lineman don't contribute big time in the 1st year and we need a 1st round impact player. I strongly believe they sign a top FA. Get one in the 3rd and develop/rotate in.

We need both.. We need to sign one and draft one early..

Given how unreliable pass rushers have been in the draft, I'm all for going after one of the top free agents.  I'm generally not a fan of going after big free agents, but DE is such a critical position and I'd love to see Clowney or another top free agent in a Panther's uniform.  Trey Flowers would be another great addition.

Looking at sporadic cap situations.. None of the top guys are leaving their teams.. All of them have enough cap space to Franchise their guy and still have more cap space than us.. So forget about Clowney, Clark,  or Flowers.. We might be able to get either a older vet on his last deal or Barr or Fowler... So drafting one early still has to happen..

Panthers will get a quality d-lineman at 16, and if Ron/Hurney fall in love with someone that they know will go earlier they can move up.

if we don’t get at least two starting linemen out of this draft Hurney should be tarred and feathered

Honestly this draft should be the building blocks for getting youth on both lines..

This is a fixing  the trenches draft..

Then Hurney trades out of the 1st round and picks up a 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 8th round draft choices. We fill all our needs for the next 2 years with these draft choices.

Guys are acting like 15 pass rushers and 15 DT and 15 OLB will all get picked before we pick.

no one picks OT or QB or WR or CB or Safety—-or RB

everyone gets to pick 2 defensive players before we pick,.. the whole draft is gone before we pick.

actually I would laugh if they all were gone.

Hurney and gang would probably be completely stunned— take until the last second to field crazy offers from teams wanting to jump up for the best other position picks—

and if not we have the pick of the litter for everything else.

personally I think it will be opposite per supply and demand rules.

a lot of the Defensive line players will be pushed down as a run on the best OT, QB etc happen— there are far less of them so teams will take the best of them early.

16 comes around don’t be surprised if a lot of players that would go top 12 are there,.. DE, DT, 3-4 DT 3-4DE 3-4 OLB will all be there at 16 for us to choose

in 2011 there were a million quarterbacks so look at how many teams skipped the first round to draft WR or other positions and waited to round 2 or 3 to pick.

Seems like every year there are a couple solid free agent DEs that come available and they usually have an impact their first year with their new team.  Our D is built around getting pressure with the front 4 and I personally don't think they can trust a rookie DE to have an impact in year 1.

That's why you do both.. You sign a lower teir FA DE and draft 1 early.. Right Now our Dline room looks like Addison, Obadda, and Hayes..
