Agreed.... but is a draft pick going to be a sure thing? No.  Glover Quin who be a stopgap for a Gaulden or a draft pick.  Clearly we don't want another Harper/Adams situation, but it's better to have something for a year than nothing.

But if you have a clearer plan to "end the revolving door", let me know.

I'd rather bring back Boston on a cap firendly deal than Quin.

I'd take him if the $$ is where it needs to be.  I too want to get younger at FS....which we technically are, but plugging in Gauldin or a draft pick in 2019 is risky....especially with Gauldin. Now, if we take Deionte Thompson in R1, I think he has a Derwin James impact here by midseason.

That's why Quin would be a solid stopgap as others have said. Could do a lot worse at FS on a 1 year deal while we evaluate what we have.

Sidebar - I had no idea we signed Nacua last year. I had high hopes for him during his draft year...thought he was raw, but within a few years, could turn into a solid starter.

I'm ready to end the revolving door of washed up vets at safety.

I think most of our but I'm not convinced we will do anything major in free agency or the draft to sign one.

What's the chance that the team is comfortable with Reid and Gaulden as the starters?  If that is the case you also have Searcy under contract and Jones and Adams as free agents.

I think most years we only start the season with 4 safeties on the 53.  I could see them going with Reid and Gaulden as the starters, Searcy as one of the backups and that just leaves one back up spot to fill which they could end up doing with a cheap vet.  Even if they release Searcy I can't see them spending a lot o resources on the safety spot.  Reid is a lock for one spot.  If you spend a 1st or 2nd on the second spot you are almost giving up on Gaulden.  Sometimes GMs and coaches like to prove they are right about past draft picks.

Maybe I'll be wrong but I have my doubts.

Would rather have nakamura

Dang.  That is a bit extreme.

But I expect S to be fairly far down the list of priorities now,  even though we do have a need at FS.  I am not confident they are ready to ditch Gaulden because he was drafted with the caveat he needed time to develop.  Besides they have Cole Luke at S now, and I would not underestimate that switch.  Could be a good career move for him.

I still  say DE, OL, and DT are bigger needs.  I also think OLB could be getting some top attention by  April.  If we do not like Thompson and he  is not worth a team-friendly, long-term deal, he ain't getting $9m for what he does.  I would play Carter and Smith first.
