OR...

He could have had a bad year because Cam lost the deep ball....

I do not think we need to assume any decisions are made before free agency  and the draft.  If they add a WR in  the draft, that $5m starts looking like a lot.

Can't count the number of he was thrown to even for short gains and balls bounced off his hands and Rivera refused to put in Moore instead. Better than Funchess but Smith did not play as well as he should for 5m.

If he did not get in the way of Samuel and Moore getting reps I wouldn't care so much but ...Rivera

Oh, at this point it's Tepper for me.

I know what we have in Hurney and Ron.

This. All of this. It's not like Tepper is dealing with unknown commodities here. If Hurney kills us again and Ron sticks to his stubborn ways per usual, will anyone actually be surprised by that? If it happens, it's on Tepper.

He caught 17 of 31 targets for 190 yards and 2 TDs in 6 starts and 11 total games. $5M? GTFO...

You can get that type of production out of an off the street JAG. Sorry, being a nice guy in the lockerroom isn't worth $5M.

Hahahaha, he had about the same receiving stats at Leonard Fournette last season.

Whew.

Sorry/ I thought he was paid $5m last season as the Panthers took over his contract during the trade. If I recall, it was a 1-year deal.

Where does it say he is getting another $5m for this season?

5 million is his base salary this season.

He signed a 3 year deal with Philly.  He played 1 season there, they realized he can't play football any longer, and traded him to get 5M off the books.  Of course we jumped all over that...because it's a terrible football move, and we are the Panthers.

So he was under contract for us last season and this upcoming.  At least last season we were somewhat stuck with him because of his dead cap number, but this year there is nothing holding us back from forcing a pay cut, or cutting him outright with zero dead cap.

TLDR:  We are a dumb team right now.

    • I love Chubba.  Been a fan since I heard about his story when he was at Ok St.  and no doubt his production and progression is impressive, but this is my one nitpick - he was always touted for his speed, having come from a track background, so I am honestly surprised he doesn’t have more breakaway runs for TDs than what he has achieved thus far.  But to be fair, it often feels like he is constantly having to break tackles, so when he breaks the last one where it would just be nothing between him and the end zone, that usually took long enough that a defender from the opposite side of the field got an angle to catch up.  I really hope with the receiver additions, Bryce moving forward with confidence and proving that ending stretch last season wasn’t an aberration, and another year of synergy for the OL, Chubba is gonna have some wide open running this season.  He is definitely special.  Proud of him and happy he is getting rewarded for all his hard work…
    • Didn't i say passing other cars?
    • If you're in the left lane, look to the right. Is there someone beside you? Are you soon overtaking someone in the right lane immediately ahead of you? No and no? Then get the fug over. That's how it's supposed to work. Doesn't matter if you're going 100.
