I see. I mean, if he was flat out AVERAGE.  I would be happy with a one year 6 million dollar deal for any starting tackle

This.

I wanted Veldheer and he is flat out at best average right now and 6 million for that, you take.

I’m torn on that. I understand the need for a franchise tackle but we may very well have that in Williams and or Moton.   A first round tackle sitting on the bench grinds my gears a bit.

We have nothing at DE and I think at this point is probably the better choice in the first round.

Problem is, Williams has a history of injury, what happens if he gets hurt again? Moton slides to RT and who's left for LT? Kalil? What happens if Moton is not great at LT but best at RT? Considering above average OL is not plentiful, better get it while you can, and cheap too.

If you look at the top OL prospects, a majority are pretty versatile having played mult positions along the O line. Draft an OT, start at one of the G spots, and already have backups in Larsen and Van Roten.

yea...obviously no one wanted him...he should of went in the first wave... this is just dumb luck on hurneys part...

Thats part of negotiating.  You have to find a number and stick to it.  Thats how I got my sectional for $250 off craigslist.

I just think that bringing back Daryl Williams is counter-productive when you already have a solid - borderline elite - guy in Taylor Moton on a rookie deal manning the right side and keeping it elite.

Because I don't know if he can easily switch to LT and make that elite, while Daryl Williams comes back healthy and actually plays like an All-Pro.

Maybe I'm seeing this wrong?

It'll be interesting to revisit this in a year.

Hopefully Daryl turns out well. I'm skeptical he's as good as perception says he is, but we'll see.

Prove it deal? He better prove it. I think it's a bad move, but since I'm in the minority despite watching his film, I'll keep quiet.

I am too, but we'll see. The price isn't bad, at least.

For now, my happiness is contingent on confirmation that Moron is moving to the left tackle spot

It’s a one year prove it deal. These kinds of deals are great for the team. We are suffering at oline, give him one year to prove it. If not we are out 6 million that would go to what exactly? No dline that matters is going to be cheap and that’s all we need. Could argue it won’t roll over to next years cap but I’d honestly rather see if he can come back because as I said, we need a RT.

Furthermore if this means trying Moton at LT it’s even better. What options do we have right now at LT? LT rookies rarely pan out or would be better than Moton though I’d still like to draft one.

Can’t see how this is a bad deal in more ways than good.

This. It becomes an ideal move if it means we now move on from Matt "biggest mistake since Sean Gilbert" Kalil.

Oh 6 million is the figure being reported.

kill me lmao.

6 million for a starting tackle is peanuts. Thats only 1 million more than our #4 WR made last year.  Hurney knocked this one outta the park.

Look at it this way.  There is no better value to be had for that 6 million dollars than a starting NFL tackle, regardless of the side.  I would pay 6 million for a back up swing tackle.

Kalil sucks and there's a high chance he ends up on IR anyway. Williams isn't great, but he's solid.

Keep thumping your chest about your "film study" and worship of Twitter analysts no one has ever heard of and for good reason. We all remember how Funchess was going to to excel as our #1 WR and Worley being better than Bradberry. LOL!

Or Russell Shepherd..........

    • Not sure who said it first, but Tepper is the correct answer. Still, I'm gonna go with Kasay keeping it inbounds. If, you subscribe to the butterfly effect version of time travel consequences.... When we win SBXXXVIII everybody's lives change: Moose never breaks his leg, We win it all again in 05. Tommy Jone is unknown and Peppers stays home, Champs once more 2008. No artificial pig heart turning JR into a creepy weirdo, no lockout, no Clausen. Fox and Jake ride off into the sunset on their own terms. No 2-14, no #1 pick. But, no laptop, no Blinn, 3 years behind The Golden Calf of Bristol, we still get Cam. JR let's him grow his locs like he always wanted, Smitty sees Cam in a new light. Dreads swinging, (and Smitty with his 3 Lombardis behind him) Cam is old enough to get those calls. No Manning narrative, Cotchery TD, PI against Talib on Philly Brown, 10,000 RTP calls and Kony Ealy SB50 MVP. No Jeans Fridays, no Tepper. KB doesn't slip on his own meatsweat mid-route in SD, Cam becomes the 1st QB to win 10 straight SBs. Retiring after being elected 47th president of the US of A, Cam ushers in the Permanent Proletarian Revolution across the globe, Xi Jinping bows in awe. "ẄøŘƙƐṛ§ őF ŧĤə ŵØRłð, ŮŊÏŦƐ!!!"
    • Yeah your right the owner was copping hand shandies while all this was going down
    • I mean not surprised the Patriots took him in and aren't trying to push him out. They've been the most morally bankrupt team in the NFL for a long while. Wouldn't be surprised if Vrabel has his own dirt on Kraft/Brady and other assholes from that organization over the last couple decades.
