it almost sounds like we drafted a guy who doesn’t have a practical skill set that can be used at a real position of value

almost

Very possible. But we already have a 3rd round pick invested in the guy and he was a very good nickelback in college. Our evaluation said FS in the NFL but that doesn't mean we were right in that evaluation. Might as well give the guy a shot at the position where he's most comfortable before tossing him out as a wasted pick. It'd be a shame not to since we have a hole at nickelback as well.

sure

but i’m very wary of the current leadership’s track record when it comes to trying to force draft picks to happen. gaulden just doesn’t look like he has the chops from what i’ve seen. sometimes a bad decision is a bad decision, and it’s better to admit that and move on sooner rather than later. it’s only a third round pick.

Gaulden seemed like a wasted pick at the time of the draft and still looks that way. He's not very athletic and looked lost last season, so...not sure why that warranted a 3rd round pick...

Haven't we tried moving a bad player to a different position to try and save him enough already?

Why not though? What's the risk? There is none. What's the potential reward? Maybe he's a good nickel just like he was in college. Playing him at the nickel wouldn't really be "moving" him. We tried moving him last year. Playing him at the nickel would be playing him where hes most comfortable. It's a no brainer IMO. That doesn't mean it will work, but there's no reason not to try it.

    • He had a turnover on all three goals he was on the ice for. Plus he had that god awful delay of game penalty. Like legit his GS actually shows he was the cause of the loss and he was only on the ice for 12 minutes. You remove him from that game and the Canes win or at worst go to OT.  Let's put this in perspective, in 12 minutes he directly led to 3 goals against. In the 48 minutes without him on the ice it was an even-steven 2-2 game and that's disregarding that god awful delay of game penalty that led to goal number 4 of the 5 given up.      I don't see how anyone could say that he didn't directly lead to the loss.
    • reality is the piling on of Frank Reich is just the standard huddle angle we take of putting all blame on someone after the fact.   as I was an OG Frank hater before it was cool to be......now the swing goes too far the other way and people will claim me is as a Frank defender.  Frank Reich was the definition of a .500 middle of the road NFL coach.  He technically was a winning coach and above .500 coming here but he is and was NFL average.  we were the biggest joke in a decade.....because they paired Frank Reich (a dude who was going to do what he does in the NFL) with a dude who couldn't do NFL basics and Frank was forced to play him.  That's not Frank being a loser.  That a bad org around Frank.
    • Toronto is less physical than us, and they took them to 7  I really wish they would have won, because we match up better with them, but we have to deal with what we got  What worries me is Svech trying to take out Bob, that is desperation, that's what you do when you feel like there is no legit options left, it's what I feared, Bob is still in our core groups head, and they are over thinking, over passing Hopefully that changes tonight
