The annual rite of "this will be his breakout year" is officially ended.

I wish him nothing but the best but it was time for us to move on. He filled a niche back in the "twin towers" error (uh... I mean "era") as the token speed guy but with Moore and Samuel on the roster we're more in need of a token size guy.

I think he would've stuck if not for all the injuries, I still think we could stand to add a returner to the roster, as it is - Barner, and Byrd are now gone. Prior to them over the last two seasons -- CMC / Samuel / Moore have handled KR/PR duties. 

Considering their roles on offense I don't see any of them as a viable option. So to me the question is who will we bring in to fill that role, injuries aside, Byrd was probably the best returner we had dating back to Smith. Pilares, and Philly or Corey, or back to Philly as honorable mentions since each notched a return TD during their time.

He'll be best remembered here for having a narrow ass.

Byrd probably shouldn't be remembered as a bust. He made contributions, just not as much as everyone was hoping for.

Nothing against him, but he was never going to be as good as we all hoped he could be.

Every team has guys like that.

I never call an undrafted free agent a bust.  Any contribution from them is just a bonus.  Norwell was amazing.

Exactly! Byrd if anything was a (+) player considering the investment, and it's easy to forget he was getting regular reps at receiver in 2017 (the 11-5 season) and was looking solid until he broke his forearm vs the Patriots, then came back had the great Packers game, and then got hurt vs TB before the playoffs. 

He was just a combination of ''not durable enough'' and ''unlucky'' with some of the hits he took.

Small for the NFL and not just height but his build. Hope he can make it though, I liked him a lot here and will be rooting for him in AZ as long as it doesn’t hurt us.

Yeah I don’t think any player that’s not taken in the first 3-4 rounds of the draft can be considered a bust.

Panthers losing Byrd isn’t a surprise, they clearly felt he’d got hurt once too often, but this does leave WR as a potential day 3 target as well as an area they might look to sign somebody pre-draft.
