Some guy on Twitter making bold statements.

Why are you guys so sentimentally attached to one player? Is there a reason? It’s creepy. Do you really believe saying everything other than Cam coming back to form is just bullshit and everything is going to be hunky dory is going to make a difference?

He said if Cam isn’t well. And we all know that’s a possibility.

And if that happens the team will need a replacement and that’s a huge position to fill and it’s a good thing they’re preparing now.

Is Grier the answer? Maybe not.  People say everyone will say he be cheered in after one bad game from Cam but man how can that be said, has he got a lot of hate as a Panther from this fan base,  more than Cam. It’s a bit hypocritical. And doesn’t make sense, as Panthers fans shouldn’t we want him to succeed no matter what happens?

Well stated. I think many of these people are young enough that Cam is the only QB they have ever known.

Not bold at all. If last year is the new Cam he's no longer a franchise QB. Will I be mad/disappointed that we wasted and broke a generational superstar? Definitely, but I'm also not cool with paying a guy way above his role.

Who is this “we” you are talking about?

Every team has holes and some holes can be attributed to poor planning on the GM side, but some are just bad luck- guys get injured or fail to meet expectations. There’s not much you can do mid season when you have a banged up O-line and your QB gets a couple bad hits that hurts his shoulder. I don’t play the blind homer role either, but all this talk about the guy we drafted in the 3rd round to be competition for the back up qb position possibly overtaking Cam while cam is still able to play is really just ridiculous. Cam IS the starting quarterback until he is no longer on the team. It’s in stone somewhere I guarantee it.

The best thing that could happen is for Cam to feel doubted.  He has always played better as an underdog wanting to prove people wrong. It keeps him focused.  Come on, keep it up, get the juices flowing.

The organization brought a lot of it on themselves by cutting corners around him. I think KB/Funch are the only two things I can say were completely just bad luck. Cam's shoulder's got jacked up because they kicked the can on the o-line and running game for far too long and Shula's system just aggravated the issue. They're addressing these things finally but we've wasted a lot of time already, so if it's too late now for Cam I'd be sad about that.

On the fan's part it's really small, but if Cam were truly done I'd be upset at how a good portion of this fanbase took him for granted in his time here. The dude's one of the best things to happen to this franchise and there were a lot of dumb little controversies over the years and not supporting him when we should have.

I don't think he's done yet though so it's all good.

What will be interesting is if Cam still isn't right this year. What do the Panthers do in the last year of his contract? Let's all hope it doesn't come to that.

If Cam continues to struggle this year I expect Hurney to find a way to dump him. No way they’re going into 2020 with Cam unable to throw again.

This might not be the best example, but OP isn't wrong though overall.

Btw, ya'll please stop encouraging posters like Lumps. He isn't arguing in good faith, and I don't care what he's posting now, he revealed himself with his remarks about Newton's sexuality.

what's the cap penalty for cutting kuechly? multiple brain injuries and a couple shoulder surgeries is pretty concerning. when will we invest a first or second day pick in his backup? better to be safe than sorry

Need to be drafting his backup/replacement.

    • MORGAN ON PLAY CALLER FOR CANALES   "I think that's really his [Canales'] call," he stated. "I think if he wants to promote somebody into being the play-caller or bring somebody from the outside. We haven't really talked about that. But that is something that I'm sure we'll talk about. We talk about every decision together. If he feels like he needs to add somebody or promote somebody into being the play-caller, then I trust him."
    • Dude, he cannot see the field, when his feet are not set he throws ducks.   What the fug are you watching?
    • I'm looking at the final drive, and that's where I'm laying the blame at Bryce's feet. Stepping up to the line, 38 seconds left, 3 time outs on the clock. 30 yards needed to attempt a FG. It's not Bryce's job to call the plays, that's DC's and it was terrible play calling.  It's Bryce's job to read what the defense is giving him at the line. The middle of the field is open. Rams are guarding against the deep ball and bringing pressure leaving the middle of the field ripe for the taking. Knowing his line not holding up for long, Bryce should have read the defense, called the audible, and thrown to the middle of the field for 6- 8 yards, like you said, quick slants would have worked. Then run either hurry up or call a TO. We had time. He has to make the adjustments. Any QB has to make the adjustments.  The pass Horn dropped hit his hands but was at his knees. Should he have slid and caught it? Probably. Was the pass a good one? No it wasn't. Both players were at fault, not just Horn. Let's not pretend that Bryce threw a beautiful pass that hit the receiver chest high right in the hands in perfect stride because that damn sure wasn't the throw.  The defense didn't choke away a lead. They never had a real lead. Choking away a lead is being up by multiple scores late in the 4th and losing. We were up by 4 and handed the ball back to a potential MVP with an All pro WR and potential future HoF WR2. One score games in the 4th are a slug fest. 28-3. That's choking away a lead.  I don't solely blame Bryce for the game, but you seem to solely blame the defense for the game because they went to prevent after losing Horn. You are forgetting the short field that the offense left them that led to the early Puka TD on one of our 2 failed 4th down conversions. Our defense has been given very limited resources over the past 3 years while we have tried to put everything possible around Bryce. We added a little bit to the D this year after giving up a NFL record in points last year. Our defense overachieved based on what they've been given to work with.
