Hornet's offer wasnt even close to Max contract of 190 for Kemba (updated: MJ only offered 159 mil)

Nor should it have been. $160m - $170m should have been the highest offered. No way I want to be paying a 35yr old Kemba $35m a year when we would have been in the same place as we were the last 8 years.

Also for the love of God, we are now officially rebuilding so we need to follow these rules:

1. Don't trade any young guys or picks to get rid of contracts.

2. We exchange our expirings for assets or let them expire.

3. Don't panic and try to fast forward the rebuild. We did that the last time. We get impatient and try to make a splash and struggle.

4. Play our young guys. I don't want to see Batum, Williams, MKG and Zeller getting huge minutes.

So when he said he would take less to stay with the Hornets, what he really meant was that he would take less than the max, not less than other teams.

5 yrs 160, while less per year, seems about on par with 4 yrs 140 because he gets the extra year in there for about 20 mil when he’s 35. The 5 yrs 175 he was looking for is more per year than he got from Boston and for an extra year.

What he said was misleading and I think people are too quick to roast the organization. Kemba was great to have here, and I’m glad we aren’t hamstringing ourselves for him because he hasn’t really gotten us anywhere.

You cut off half of his quote.  This is 100% on the team.

He said he would take less IF it meant helping the team this offseason (signing players etc)

1. we aren't planning on it it

And

2. Our draft pick we came out and said he will spend time to start out he G-League.

So they Didnt make the moves, so he Didnt take the discount

None of this is on Kemba on the Quote was no where misleading

So we would go 5 yrs at $160 but not 5 yrs at $175??

Just realize Kemba was gone unless we offered him 200m+. The reason he left was to win. He might have thought at one point he would stay for less but Kemba ultimately decided he wanted to win. Money would have been the only reason for him to stay and we would have had to massively overpay.

Kemba taking 5 years 160 would have been awful for the hornets.  Why is anyone upset he left?  It's 100% the best for both parties.

Agreed, but if that was the plan then they should have traded him last year. I get the feeling that our front office doesn't plan further ahead than lunch.

I think it was offensive to offer that to him and that's why he left.    I would have rather them not offered anything and just said we're moving into a new transitional phase for the team etc. and then the split would have went much better.     Then of course we go out and sign a backup PG to 20 mill per lol.

The big fail was not trading Kemba two years ago and starting the rebuild, such a fail move right there.

I'm just glad most fans are angry at the right person/people and not Kemba.    I hate he went to a Boston team though, will be hard to route for them haha.

Stern & Silver have to be questioning their decision to award this (joke of a) franchise to Jordan.

The Warriors have been to 5 straight finals. Prior to them is was the Heat and coinciding with them was the Cavs. I'd say it's of no consequence how good or bad we are. Scouting department needs to be turned over and common sense roster moves made. Not resigning Kemba made sense because we would waste his Prime trying to wait out these bad contracts.

    • This is huge may not be a trap game but this plays a major part in what they want to do. If we can get some pressure on Sam we know what he does with pressure coming hit and heavy. Also we may be able to take the top off their defense a backup safety trying to stop TMac or Cooker over the top or forcing him to play the backend should allow us to run the ball somewhat effectively. Either they allow some runs or we take some shots and if Bryce and whoever can connect deep we’ll be in business for another big time win against a top notch opponent. Might not be a trap game but health travel game plans all play a major role in each weeks game plan and this week might be leaving our way. We’re missing some replaceable pieces they’re missing key anchors to the offense and defense major difference time to solidly ourselves at one of the top teams in the nfc tomorrow fellas buckle up.
    • Yes.  If I am not mistaken, we need to sign Coker to the ERFA tender and insist that XL spends his spring and summer at a WR camp and not Coon huntin on his four wheeler.  XL was raw when we picked him--which is why I wanted to go another direction--and we are seeing how raw.  He is basically learning a position.     The Panthers will make their move in 2026 to be an NFL powerhouse behind Bryce.  Bryce needs intelligent WRs who catch the ball.  That said, we need a solid #2 to challenge XL and make cutting him easy, if necessary.  A #2 WR (intented to be a #1 by now) with under 400 yards is embarrassing.   On offense, you have to ask, "Where can we get better?"  In my view, #2 WR, TE (although they are improving) and maybe C (again, if we re-sign Mays, he is trending up and at 26, entering his prime--I say stay with him and find competition later in the draft (not good for C).  OL depth maybe?  In other words, XL is a glaring weak spot.
