Not really sure why. Plenty of teams stopped us last year... Same players, same playbook, same everything

Well, we have a 3rd year Curtis Samuel who is actually ready to go Week 1, instead of having heart surgery, we have a 2nd year DJ Moore who was explosive last year, but just learning how to be a pro - now he should run the whole route tree and be the starting X WR on day one.  Also, we have a much improved offensive line, and a healthy Greg Olsen.  Oh, and dont forget about Cam Newton having his shoulder fixed and coming back to what looks like 100 percent.  Also, instead of a CMC who was just learning the ins and outs of the pro game, we have a CMC whos coming off nearly a 2,000 yard season.

Not even close to the same type of team we had last year.

I’d argue that better talent on the OL and guys who have developed will make a world of difference. The obvious caveat is keeping Cam clean and thus healthy.

To top it off, if Cam had stayed healthy last year, we would have certainly made the playoffs and possibly even contended for the division.  Even with Cam at 50% or so during our losing streak along with a makeshift line, we still almost (and in most cases should have) won most of those games.

So there's no reason to think that with the development of young guys like Samuel, DJ, Thomas, and the continued development of CMC, along with a healthy and complete line and healthy Cam, we won't be a legitimate contender.  Not to mention the effect the addition of guys on defense like Irvin and McCoy will have on giving the offense shorter fields to work with.

This offense has the potential to be as scary as any in the league, and maybe even scarier if Cam is truly back to his old self...with the improved accuracy he showed last year.

With a revamped Oline and even with a 75 percent Cam we're a different Offense.

Same Players: Cam with a useable shoulder...Take away Funchess and insert a 3rd year Samuel and McCaffrey. A more developed DJ Moore. Wright & Hogan in the "Cotchery" role and having Greg Olsen back will be HARD to plan against let alone stop.

Same Playbook: We couldn't throw deep last year...teams knew it and still couldn't contain McCaffrey. We had a helluva losing streak but we we're still in the wildcard race at Week 15. Norv is the OC in contrast to Shula who was incredibly predictable. Also, 20 percent of that same Playbook is new this year.

Same Everything: Our Oline should be vastly improved which helps the above two categories execute. The defense is under Rivera so I suspect the offense shouldn't have to put up 35+ to win every week. From all these one year deals, we are All in ...jobs are on the line...which should undoubtedly bring out Riverboat.

Odd year on top of that..Yeah...This will be a good season for us.

    • Would be happy with Lomu or Iheanachor at 19. Fano is intriguing but I don't think he makes it.
    • II see it this way: We have to look at long-term needs and current depth.  We have filled some key spots with players on one-year contracts.  I firmly believe that they intend to pay Bryce some big bucks next year.  That means you cannot hope that your rookies in 2027 can fill the spots vacated by the veterans you could not afford to re-sign.   We need to consider the cap and the fact that the need to start a rookie is not viewed as a positive by coaches and general managers, but they value first contracts--so it is a delicate balance. I think they have to look at the cap by position--"Can we afford a $50m QB and a $100m OL?  That is half the cap, before you pay your WRs and RBs and TEs.  They need to start getting younger on the OL as well.   I am not suggesting that we draft OT in round 1, but we could and I would get it.  RT on a 1-year deal, they may have intel about Ickey (who was not the best LT, to be honest) and 32-year old Moton is on a bad wheel.   Now if you go by Morgan's history, you can almost tell what position we are going to address with the first pick by noting the positions he has not focused on in free agency.  DT, considering the lack of performance by those not named Derrick Brown and the loss of Robinson, is screaming to be addressed with a top player.  Wharton is not an early down DT (DE if you want to get technical) and our LBs need to be clean--they were not in 2025.  Look for a DT early. I also think we will address ILB (pass covering Will) on day 2.  The other day 2 pick will be an OT, in my view. Do not rule out CB.  We are thin there too, and Jackson is in his final year.  I am not sure that we love Smith-Wade.  Some crackhead on here talked about moving him to S----stay tuned.   Hopefully, a team wanting Ty Simpson will move up and offer us a pick or two to move back. DT WILB OT OC QB  (you heard it here 337th--but this pick could come sooner than you think.
    • Bryce had some bad games, but he had some good ones as well (and this is coming from a Bryce skeptic). I think it's a little simplistic to put all the offensive woes on Bryce, you also should be looking at O-line play, receiver play, RB and TE play, and also coaching. There's no way when I look at the offense in it's totality am I ready to say that a so-so to bad offense was all on Bryce, and, I also can't say that we don't need to upgrade any position on offense, save Tetairoa McMillan (who also wasn't perfect) and maybe the starting guards and T-mo.
