Is Cam closer to retirement than we think?

With Luck retiring due to relentless injuries, it has to be a concern that Cam may also retire sooner than we would like due to injuries.  He has played with pain and injury since 2016.  If this OL can’t protect, I am afraid he may not play much longer. It would be a shame because today’s game is supposed to be setup for  QBs to play longer just like Brady or Brees.  No, this isn’t a reactionary thread, just an honest question given the trend.

Cam has endure so much in his career. It's insane that he's onkyissed a handful of games. We all know damn well he played hurt in a lot of them. It just goes to show his grit and dedication to this team, himself, and the fan base.

I don't believe he'll be retiring any time soon. He is so competitive. It's in his nature. I could see him playing until he's 40. The question will be if his body will allow him to? He takes a lot of punishment.

Even if healthy, zero chance of him wanting to do that.

Cam has so many outside interests and businesses as an entertainer and icon it's highly unlikely he plays more than 5 more NFL seasons (including this one), very possibly less.  For him football is just a means to an end, fashion and business is where his heart really is.

Joe missed one season, not two.

Montana played 192 regular season games in his career.

Do you expect Cam to exceed that number?   If so, by how many?

Actually he missed 2 years.  1991 and all but 1 game in 1992.  And only played 2 more years after that with KC.  How many games will Cam play?  Who knows?  But if the shoulder is ok and he doesn't have any chronic injury I would guess several more years.

As its been said before in this thread, football will lose its love of Cam before Cam loses his love for football. I could see him playing well into his late 30s, especially with how serious he takes his body conditioning, it all just comes down to if that shoulder will allow him to continue.

I think it's a bit ignorant to claim Luck didn't love football as much as Cam, when it comes to personal health and family, I would assume almost everyone chooses that path.

And yet it's so clear that he never loved football as much as Cam. You can see it in interviews.. The elation if a team scores or even the backup qb,the passion Cam has for the game that moppy after losses attitude people hate, to me that means you care if you win or lose because you love the game. I'm not gonna pretend to know how much Luck trained in the offseason, but I haven't seen luck coach and sponsor 7 on 7 leagues and such as Cam does in his free time.

The writing is sort of on the wall.

You are correct.  Error on my part.  Good catch.

You just had to get that icon and entertainer bit in there huh? The man has risked life and limb to score touchdowns for the Carolina Panthers. How many times have we seen him running or leaping head first over or into an end zone? But his heart isn't in football? You are a piece of poo for even suggesting this. The mods need to get it over with and ban you again for the 12th time @Billy_T.

Unfortunately I think Cam is the type of dude to keep playing even when it’s obvious he should hang it up. Hope I’m wrong. But football is 100% his life and focus. Obviously he has other hobbies but it all comes back to football.

I hope he goes out on his terms because he deserves it with how much time, sweat and blood he’s put into what he loves. But that’s rare. I hope him and the people around him realize when his time is up. And he gets out before serious damage is done.

Think about what Thomas Davis is going to be like at 50 years old. We love that dude but fug is it gonna be scary seeing what he’s like physically at that age. So much damage done to his body.

Same with Luke.
