29 touches per game isn’t sustainable (well maybe it is for a season or a couple but not for the future) so hopefully that comes down but his productivity remains the same or is better.

LaDainian Tomlinson averaged over 25 touches per game for the first seven years of his career.

Emmitt Smith averaged 25 touches per game for the first seven years of his career.

Let's not get too excited by the fact that a rock star RB got four touches more than other rock star RB's averaged at the same point in their career for one game.

It's quite sustainable.  Strength and conditioning is miles above what it was in the days of Emmitt Smith, Barry Sanders, Jim Brown, etc, etc.  He can handle it.

It's not an issue of sustainability, it's an issue of versatility. Being dynamic. Do you see the two recent Super Bowl teams forcing their entire offense (rushing/passing) through their first string RB? If anything so far this season I've seen two of the best teams in the NFC getting on the board with their backup running back.

I'm sure if McCaffrey only got 15 touches and we still lost, people would be complaining about that too.

Feeding McCaffrey isn't why we lost.  It is because (and I hate to say it because I love him) Cam overthrew multiple passes, Moore fumbled in the redzone on the opening drive, the miscommunication on the attempted field goal drive, and the lateral in our own territory.

I say we just give him the ball every play. The Panthers are used to one guy driving the offense. From Steve Smith to Cam and now McCaffrey.

    • The same folks crying about the OL right now were crying about it in 2023 too. We have tied up over 100 million dollars in two interior olinemen alone. We've invested multiple first and second round picks in the offense. We hired an offensive minded head coach. This is an offensive team. The offense needs to produce or people need to be replaced.
    • This is the same place that has ridiculed and blasted Caleb Williams at every opportunity he has his team sitting at 10-4 in the same NFC that the Panthers are competing in. And their division in the NFC North is as or more competitive as our division. Yet from the same people who have very high standards for Williams we get every excuse imaginable for the smallest starting QB in the league even when he and his team continue to disappoint when the pressure is on. You lot aren't any less inconsistent than anyone else.
    • The Panthers are 9th in cap spent on offense this year.  However next season is already a different story  The Panthers as it stands right now will be 18th in cap spent on offense and 8th in cap spent on defense  The Panthers are currently set to spend more on defense next year than they are on offense this season Guys like Jaycee and Moehrig cap numbers take a big jump. Wharton has a massive cap hit   Jaycee Moehrig and Wharton in 2025 The same 3 in 2026 So this same defense as it stands right now will cost more in 2026 than this offense does right now… Got anything else you want to try?
