Y’all should go back and read that first drive and the comments on here about how good the offense looked. Cam started out perfect and then DJ fumbled. Offense got off track after that. But his numbers could have looked a hell of a lot better if we threw the ball more in the red zone. That’s not on Cam. He still marched the team down the field throwing the ball on both scoring drives.

wouldn't say he was exactly humming it on either drive.

He says the passes have a little less zip and a little more touch.  People have been wanting that out of Cam for years, so maybe its a good thing.  Game one I think its reasonable to assume the absence of deep passes was a combo of rust and trying to mitigate Donald.  Hopefully tonight we see some downfield passes.

Are they saying this as a bad thing? The knock on Cam in the past has been him throwing the ball too hard for the receivers to catch. The media will be talking and speculating about Cam's shoulder for the entire season regardless of how good he performs.

Situationally Cam needed to make that throw to Curtis in the game. That was a momentum breaker. He’ll be better in the future. He’s proven it.

I meant that one overthrow for the momentum shift. Would’ve put us in their territory with a chance to take the lead. Just had to make that throw.

It was disheartening to see, no doubt.

All we can do is take Cam at his word. He's got to play better from here on out, and we also have to treat drives more importantly. Including not turning the ball over. We also pissed away many drives early on against the Rams with just slogging predictable calls on 2nd downs which put the offense in tough 3rd downs.

The offense needs a solid bounce back game. Let's hope Norv, and Cam can deliver.

Yeah it’s not all on Cam. Team-wise we did horrible with turnovers in crucial situations but Cam’s the franchise, gotta make that throw no matter what to make up for it. I’m not worried. QBs miss, QBs miss a lot week 1. It happens. He’ll be fine.

It's great if it's by choice. Throwing with touch and accuracy on his short and intermediate routes.

It's bad if it's because he is forced to. Doesn't have the fastball when he needs it and can't air it out deep.

And the stupid sacks(Cams fake handoff?!? How has that still not been explained yet) that cost us on second down. OL needs to show cohesion today, Cam needs to connect, even if he doesn’t go deep. CMC needs to keep going strong but you are right we need to spell CMC with Scarlett/Bonnafon tonight in less important downs. But most importantly the O needs to chew the clock and convert on third down so the defense isn’t on the field the entire game again. It’ll be dark but it’ll be muggy as fug.

Cam needed to adjust ball velocity based on the situation. He always put way too much zip on the shorter route passes. He’s now throwing more short route passes. Seems to reason Cam’s not throwing with much zip. PLUS Cam is coming off surgery. Wouldn’t it be prudent to work his way in to throwing harder and longer passes as the season progresses?? That would help strengthen the healing shoulder right. WTF  Cam can’t do Sh!t right in some peoples eyes...even when he does what they suggest he should do.

    • Like many of the old heads, I’ve been here for a long time.  I got a lot of respect for everyone on this board for your dedication to this team.  We’ve all been through it during the tougher years. At this point in life, I’m not one to judge anyone’s level of dedication, or their reasons why anymore.  Time, and a lot of bad football, will do that.  For me, it’s simple.  We share a common bond.  For that, I love and appreciate all of you crazy SOB’s. For me, last season was at a minimum, entertaining.  BY lead a young team to multiple come from behind 4th qtr wins.  That showed me heart, and that he has the clutch gene.  That’s the wildcard intangible.  For me, that was fun to watch even  if it was mindbogglingly frustrating at times.  Over the past two seasons, we have progressively built a better team around him.  On paper, the defense should be better this season.  That’ll help.  Let’s see what he can do as the other guys continue to develop too.  Besides, his contract is cheap for a few more years, and we just made some smart cap decisions during the draft. Let’s see how it shakes out.
    • Hiring Shula & his Cam save us playbook.
    • I would very much liked to have seen Jake Delhomme's career if Tommy Jone no hurt Jake.  I just know that roster and the leadership were destined to hit paydirt but Jake was never the same after the elbow injury, and unfortunately he was the sole reason they didn't make it back to the big one.  I think that 08 team was the best in the league, and Jake masked his inability well all season til the Arizona game put it all on display.  I'll go back to the season prior even and say the 07 team was primed to be a competitor.  Jake was off to a fantastic start that year (for a Panthers QB).  They may have been a championship caliber club for a few seasons after 08 too.
