Blitz % from the game?

Cam's New Arm

You know Tampa was a pro team.  They have a good DL especially DT.  We weren’t much better than them.  We could come out and beat any team next week.  These teams are all very close in talent.  We could have beaten both the Rams and Bucs.  The gap feels larger but we can turn the tide.  Possible

Also, we have young pass rushers but these guys are good.  Time

It was a superb game plan with great execution. They did blitz. They also played single high safety most every snap, and absolutely clamped-down on everybody in man coverage.

That’s two weeks in a row I’ve seen teams play mostly cover one against Carolina. The whole season is going to be about taking McCaffrey out of the game—teams just don’t respect the Panthers’ passing game (cam’s arm, bad protection, wideouts not separating). With each passing week, the more that goes on tape, the more emphasis their next opponent will put on this.

    • Canales was asked about Freeling at OTAs getting beat by Princely and Scourton.  He basically described the learning curve, and it sounds as if Freeling has a lot to learn before taking the job.  Walker gives us time.  Having said that, Motown talks like he has a few (2-3?) years left---and I would love to see it.   If you look at the contracts, It is a good bet that Hunt and Lewis are extended and given some guaranteed $$$ to lower the cap hit.  Lewis is about 29 and Hunt is 30, I believe.  That gives us about a 3-year window to start grooming their replacements.  Ickey seems to be the person who could be left without furniture in the musical chairs game.  I would move him to guard and use him like a Travelle Wharton--we have a good problem--we could have six or seven starting OL on the roster.  Of course, that won't last long.
    • I see this point and agree--However, someone is going to bite.  In fact, I think there will be some bluffing going on to make the desperate teams raise the stakes.  We shall see.
    • I could see a team like the Jets, Cardinals etc. bid a second round pick, get a year to see where he’s at, and still take a first round QB if he doesn’t show the right stuff. A risk well worth taking. I just wonder how much of a mental toll the last few months have taken on him?
