It is utterly depressing the number of people who are actively rooting for this season to spiral and willing to sacrifice a year of their lives and fandom for the 5 minutes of satisfaction of seeing an alert on their phone that Rivera has been fired.

no its not.  they are rooting for hope.  they've lost theirs and that's what it would take for them to have more.

I get why, but damn it is depressing to be in this position two games in. I had a ton of hope for this season, and the wheels are falling off as soon as we pulled the car out of the garage.

As things stand now, it looks like Rivera will be fired. I'm certainly not advocating that a change in leadership isn't going to be warranted.

I just personally don't see this as a cause for celebration.

The success rate for new coaches is abysmal.

However it ends, Rivera's tenure overall has been a good thing. There are a lot of teams that have not had the success the Panrhers have had over the last 9 years.

This just always reminds me of the Sopranos where Tony tells his crew (and a nod at society at large) that there are those who just want to see someone whacked, no matter who logical or what the repercussions are.

We lost two close games. One to best team in NFC, one in which Cam got injured.  Plus all the botched ref calls.  Literally this close to being    2-0 now.

    • Varying degrees all around but it starts at the top. That is where the buck stops. It has been 8 years of stupid, long before Morgan came back. Or Tillis was hired. Made it to the top of stupid mountain in 2023. Stayed in stupid limbo for a while, now we are prepping to scale the next mountain. In this case, I like those guys’ roster building better than what we have had so I am okay with them as our current pawns in the game of Bryce.
    • Don't let me gas him up too much, but I hear this and that...... I seen a wide body man with a quick burst, that's able to shed blocks and if extends his long arms its over. He tore up the OL in the senior, you seen about 10 plays and the dog walking OLman. There's other plays of him doing the same, just have to deal with fetus talking over the plays. Plus there's this-  https://x.com/PFF_College/status/2018385471068332410?lang=en     I hope he's ready, cause Id like to see him starting and doing his thang with dbrown, nic, and Phillips.
    • I mean there is relevance to that. But I think much of it has to do with the fact that he is clearly likeable. But does that translate to a coach taking his position to the next level like those that have had staying power for many years like Spoelstra? And not for nothing but does how much someone is liked even matter? Across leagues with the Panthers Ron Rivera and Marty Hurney were universally well liked by players. Dave Canales is very well liked. I say you are what your record says. And the record says you got your ass handed to you by a fellow expansion team in the Magic in a game that was over at halftime and that same team went toe to toe with our nemesis who has been handing us L's for over a year now. And if Bam doesn't get his leg swept by LaMelo do we even get past the Heat? Again. It just all boils down to personal standards. I think newer and younger fans will love this. I just want to actually win a real playoff game fam 🤷‍♂️
