Much quicker calls on offense, Action Jackson resembles Josh Norman, and more thoughts from yesterday

Offensively

  • Did anyone else notice how much quicker the team broke the huddle with Allen under Center? There didn't seem to be as many hurried plays at the line. Because of that, there wasn't a need to waste timeouts.
  • I really liked the pace, accuracy, and decision making of Allen today.
  • Even when pressured, Allen had a great feel for the pocket and found open receivers.
  • It was good to see the swagger from the team as they rallied around their confident QB.
  • Great running by McCaffrey, but there's no reason he should have been in the game when it was clearly over.
  • Amazing what opens up when the defense must respect the deep ball.
  • In this offense, the QB must be able to deliver the layups. Allen did that today. We have the talent to move the ball as long as the QB can deliver well-timed passes.

Defensively

  • It was nice seeing the pressure dialed up when we knew they were going to pass.
  • Kudos to the young guys for showing up when given the chance.
  • Still need to work on the arm tackles in the secondary.
  • Action Jackson is feast or famine. He reminds me so much of Josh Norman in that aspect.

Not only quick playcalls, but we were able to hurry to the line and catch them with 12 men on the field twice, something we hardly ever do.

Cam has always been extremely slow to get the plays called and the team lined up. I wonder if someone could dig up how many times the team has had to blow a timeout because he couldn't get the ball snapped before the playclock ran out. It's probably a shockingly exorbitant number.

Doesnt help that Cam is always the last guy to the line, and seems like he needs a cane to get up off of a knee sometimes.  I have never understood why he does that every play?  Like, you're doing maybe 60 extra squats a game for no reason.  Wasted energy and movement, and all that stuff....

Yeah, I noticed there was no waiting until the play clock was at 1 before we snapped the ball.

During the last two drives Kyle did a nice job of milking the play clock down to 2 or 3 seconds, but it was clearly intentional. On that subject, I felt like the coaches waited a series to two too long before they took CMC out. Also interesting that it was Bonnafan and not Scarlett who went in.

Excellent points. In other words Cam is the reason this Offense can’t get going.

As much as it pains me to say it, yes. An injured Cam does not help us win close games. What makes Cam so dangerous is his ability to throw the deep ball and make plays with his legs. But, when he can't throw deep and won't run, he has to rely on short and intermediate passes - of which his timing and accuracy has not been on par with Allen.

I may be wrong here, but when Cam's confidence is down, so too is the offense's. At this point, Allen appears to be the better, more confident option. Allen is playing good ball right now and is hitting on the passes that Norv's offense is built on. I'd like to see Allen continue under Center until there is a reason to put someone else in.

You hit the nail on the head. Cam's BEST attributes is (was?) his deep ball, his ability to run, and his swag/confidence. Well, his shoulder surgeries over the years have caused his deep ball to vanish, his foot injury has caused him to not be able to run like he's capable of, and his swag/confidence is non-existent when the previous two aren't working. Then you end up with this version of Cam we've been seeing for almost a year now. So keep resting Cam until he is FULLY 100% healthy (however long that may be) and let Allen continue to run this offense. Please don't pull a typical Ron move and bring Cam back too early yet again.

Cam has to get down to CMC's height

    • Biiiiiig eyeroll on this.  First, Look at historical stats of the most recent historical great DBs.  I plucked 3, Revis, Sherman, and Norman (cuzz he was our guy).  Combined post age 30, there are TWO pro bowls between those 3 and wanna get this...ZERO seasons with 16 games started.  ALL missed time.  It is RARE that Corners survive that long in the NFL and its about time we started recognizing this fact.  Jaycee is a good bet because it hasnt been anything seriously devastating injury wise, and with his sample size he could and should be an incredible piece for the panthers through age 30. Jaire kinda flops on the other side, hes 28...so hes under 30, but he wants his payday before it comes up, hes also been injury prone lately.  Bulk of the contract will be on opposite side of 30.  Will both of these guys help us be better in 2026?  SURE!  No doubt, but the question is, will these guys help us past 2026...not sure. The investment isnt worth the risk, nor would the ROI be anywhere close to worth it.  Neither guy is moving us from a 6-8 win team to a 8-10 team, period. My point is we're in this state a 6-8 win team IMO and he projects us as  a 4-6 win team.  EVEN if we think Jaire or Ramsey will make us a 6-8 win team, it in NO WAY is worth the money or capital to move that much just to suck kinda less.
    • I assumed he was retiring but apparently he plans on playing multiple more seasons.  Florida is gonna have trouble holding onto everyone.  Happens to all teams that have that much success.
    • I hate Marchand, but if he became a free agent.....
