I need to know, why?

Because we just lost Short for the rest of the year, and Hall is better in the system we have now than in the system we had in place when he was here. We could likely get him for a 6th or 7th, and he's someone with familiarity.

I'd rather have Gunter if we're going to trade for a DE.

I've long been a fan of Austin, and he could be a solid field stretcher/returner option.

Short isn't a DE?

Leonard Williams is an intriguing option to replace KK on the DL. Former 6th overall pick who has disappointed with the Jets and figures to be gone after the year so it probably wouldn’t take much to get him. Jets aren’t doing anything this year and Jets fans would happily see him gone.

Biggest issue is that he on the 5th year option right now so so he has a really big $14M salary. Might require reworking some contracts. Not really keen on pushing anymore money forward to accommodate his contract but the upshot is that if he comes in and plays well which he might in a contract year for a much better team then we could let him leave for nice comp pick.

Leonard Williams is a good choice to replace KK. He fits perfectly at 3-4 end and is a good run stuffer.

Chris Harris Jr. can make our secondary elite. Bradberry, Harris, & Jackson is something to salivate over. It also could bump Cockrell to fill in at safety instead of Colin Jones.

Emmanuel Sanders is a would be a great option at WR. The guy just knows how to get open.

AJ Green is probably a pipe dream but he’s the #1 receiver this offense needs.

A free agent option we could get dirt cheap is Muhammad Wilkerson. But he’s coming off an injury, busted for DWI, & has had motivational issues in the past.

If we've already made the decision that Butler isn't in our future plans, swinging a trade for a DL wouldn't be the worst of ideas. Gotta remember, McCoy and Love are only on one year deals. Not to mention that our DL is ancient by NFL standards with Love 32, McCoy 31, and both Poe and Short 29.

If we don't make a move for a DL, we're going to be drafting DL early in April. Maybe double dipping at DL again.

All very good options for us, I’m torn between Leonard, Harris and green.

If I had to prioritize, Harris, green and Leonard in that order if I’m interested in trading.

We are at the halfway point.

as It currently stands, dolphins, skins, Broncos, jets, cards, and depending on tonight’s game either the bengals or Steelers will be 0-4 and season all but over.

in your opinion do we stay with the status quo or is there a trade out there you see that would push us into Super Bowl contention ?

Imo our first is untouchable, but some interesting names could be on the market as some of these teams go into rebuild. A few names are von Miller, aj green, Robby Anderson, Leonard Williams, Trent williams ect.

Id throw Cam out there as trade bait and see what we can get and then trade for someone like Von Miller or Trent Williams

Looks like all the discussed players are available and trade talks are heating up, another interesting candidate is Wolfe from the broncos if we don’t trust butler, but I’ve like what we’ve seen from butler.

green is still intriguing for anything less than a first, would hate for the pats to get him since they are showing interest.

Williams is still the goal imo, redskins are being beyond stubborn, and look like they are not trading Williams out of spite. This would allow little to come along easy which is great considering the concussions he’s suffered recently

honorable mention would be Chris Harris, adds a top tier player to an already suffocating defense

    • So he became GM and decided not to address the weakness in the QB room following one of the worst rookie QB performances in NFL history?  There were options last season other than signing Dalton to a 2 year deal. Brissett and Jones by a wide margin, both of whom outplayed Bryce, Wilson, Winston, hell even Rivers off the couch was more exciting at the QB position. The time to address the failure in the QB room was last year but instead people on the Huddle cheered when we brought Dalton back then cheered when we were able to get anything for him after they finally realized he was washed up like a few of had been saying all along and got poo'd for even mentioning.  This year, the options were more limited obviously, especially since we lost Icky. It changed the dynamic of our draft. I think we were stuck this year keeping Bryce, but i still think giving him a 5th year option for what has amounted to replacement worthy performance was the wrong move. Why guarantee 25m if you're planning to replace him? You think he's going to want to be a bridge QB? Hell no. He's going to want out and we'll end up cutting him if he has another lackluster season because no one is trading for him with that price tag.  Were there better options as far as production available. A couple. Were there guys available with more physical tools than Bryce, Pickett or Grier, you damn well better believe there were. I've been saying all along, you always keep looking for your 1b. Bryce has yet to prove he can be a starter. Keep looking for someone who may. Put competition in camp. Let the best QB lead the team. Stop settling for less than mediocre.
    • Reasonable. I mean I didn’t see a clear path to relief this season myself. As I have typed already, I think the QB FA class is more interesting next season and that draft is supposed to be stacked as well. There just weren’t many options this year.  When you have Tepper to contend with you have to tread lightly around this unless you are 100% certain and willIng to stake your job on it.   There were a couple of outings that helped Bryce a lot in terms of  thinking maybe he can do this, and if you are a supporter you are giving them a lot of weight. You are likely to think just get him some more help and he can do that every week. Which I think Tepper falls into that category.  And the playoffs, division champs, regardless of the way I see that, the supporters will also give that a lot of weight.    And the big one, the atmosphere In BOA for that WC game, Tepper had to be soiling himself over that. If you pulled Bryce out right now you had better be right and your new guy had better make the playoffs and look good doing it or you will be gone and your chance to build your old team back into respectability will be gone too.  So here we have Pickett on a one year deal, and Grier and King. I understand it.
