I don't think we can bench Kyle Allen...

Keep in mind, on those five throws where it was perfectly placed and dropped, he would have been over 300 yards and possibly another TD.

Can't argue with that.  Would I love this to become Kyle's team?  Yes.  He has an Aaron Rogers style to him.  Let's see how he does with the 49ers first.

I know but I have only seen one throw of 40 or more yards from Allen. Samuel could be that guy, and we need someone to stretch the field, to open it up for McCaffery. I though we would see lots of deep throws today, didn’t happen.

See, that's the thing.

The Bucs played exactly the same defense today as they did last time. Basically, they sold out to stop McCaffrey from doing anything.

The premise of that was that if you stopped McCaffrey, the rest of the team couldn't beat you. And last time, they were right.

Today, they gave up a lot of points running that scheme, including seven on a 99 yard drive. Throw in that Greg Olsen made them pay for staying close to the line several times.

So yeah...

Yeah, I couldn't sign on to that.

That'd be just as bad as Jake's "thank you" contract (and would probably cost more).

You know that's what makes this such an interesting dichotomy.  Hurndog was rabidly criticized for being too loyal as a gm extending Jake. Ultimately it cost him his job. This is an eerily similar situation...yet the fans who criticized Hurney for being too loyal are clamoring for him to be overly loyal.

Nope. Im just talking about in the past few games.

Did he lose a fumble last game? I don't recall but it definitely wasn't like the previous week. Thus, it's fair to say he's improved his ball security on hits.

I'd add that calling a guy who's gone five games without throwing a single interception a turnover machine is a bit disingenuous.

I agree with you, Mr Scot, just saying hitting a deep 50 yarder could have backed those safeties off a bit. There will be a time in the future we will need to do that, just curious who that WR will be. Do we trade for one? AJ Green maybe?

How often do you see Brady hitting deep 50 yarders, though?

It's very possible to win without hitting extreme long shots.

Cam deliberately played hurt.  He jeopardized the team by not telling the staff he was hurt.

If he jeopardized anyone it was the fans. How do we know what a healthy Cam Newton can do, we haven’t had one since before the Steelers game last year.

He hits them from time to time. That’s Norv’s system though. How often did Aikman hit Irvin for 50 yard TD? That’s what I’m saying.

Be happy we are 4-2.

Kyle Allen's biggest attribute at the moment is that he is not throwing interceptions.  Yes, the throws a fantastic ball from 5-20 yds, and hits guys in stride, something that Cam nor Jake could ever do consistently.

However, at this point, we are not winning a playoff game.  That's not to say we cannot continue to progress and make the team better as we go.

Our coaching worries me, a lot.  Our offense, nor defense can stay in attack mode, we always get conservative in the 4th qtr, I suppose just to make things interesting.

Cam could carry a team and he could be the main reason for a loss.  KA, at this point, cannot soar that high, but also is not crashing.

I would hate to be Ron and have to make a decision on Cam before KA has a loss.

    • No you dont.  He had all those records for years before his final season. Whether career or season he had them all years before his final season in which he played 6 games.
    • Williams covered for Moore by saying they were on the wrong page about Moores specific route. Williams could have easily covered for him by saying he messed up. Suggesting only 1 route was ever intended to be a viable target is absurd.
    • I am going to agree with Linville this time--I think we need to get a veteran edge (We have Jones II, Scourton, and Princely--2 developmental guys and a decent veteran).  We don't really think of Jones because he had a hamstring injury weeks 3 and 4 and a back that required surgery Week 6-17.  He still managed 10 pressures, and he will be 28.  Princely Umanmielen only played in approximately 18-20% of the snaps and he struggled at times.  Basically, he was a situational pass rusher.  He got 1.5 sacks and 10 pressures.  He should improve, but for now, he is what he is.  Scourton gives us hope.  For a rookie (and thanks to Jones II's injuries, he was given more PT), he had 8 sacks--and held the edge.  He played at a first-round draft pick level.  He has the potential to become "that guy" in 2026. We lose Wonnum, who played nearly 700 snaps and amassed 3 whole sacks.  For a person raised a Gamecock, I would not be upset if we purged our roster of all South Carolina alumni.   However, I see it this way:  Wonnum was decent holding the edge, something Patrick Jones II and Scourton have demonstrated at a high level.  He is a liability, if you ask me.    Jones had 7 sacks one season in Minnesota and is known for his inside rushing ability--not what you would call a speed rusher.  I think Princely was a bit disappointing, but he was a bit raw.  Out of college, they described him as being a bit predictable.  I see no reason he will not improve in 2026 and become a situational pass rusher.   Basically, with Scourton and Princely expected to continue to develop and Jones II returning from injury, I think we need another veteran (if we can get a good one) to give us balance and depth.  A third developmental player is not ideal.   Draft:  OT, LB, WR, OL depth, S. Free Agency:  Edge, possibly a WR;  re-sign Mays, Cuhran, BC (??), and Nijman.  Let walk:  Wonnum, Scott, Dowdle.  I see about $20m per year after signing the OL depth.  Spend it on a veteran edge.   Players like Reddick (Tampa), Bosa (Buffalo), Khalil Mack (LAC) could be available on a one or two year deal in the $15m range.  We could splurge here, but I think a veteran situational pass rusher (depending on Jones II's back) is all we need while our 2 young guns develop.
