The Double Standard For Quarterbacks

I also find it very intriguing that the nfl haven’t had any white cbs since 2003, I know Julian came in and played emergency slot cb but I thought that was crazy

Truth is that most white corners in high school are never recruited as corners by major colleges so they have no chance to make nfl. Even if they run 4.4 or 4.5. Cmc was an al world high school corner and I m sure there were other excellent high school prospects who were never recruited or asked to change positions stereotyping early on

Anything Young Turk related is garbage.

Cam is unfairly critiqued by people who don’t understand or truly watch football but most other black QB aren’t. If there was a double standard Kyler Murray would have never been drafted. The double standard for black QBs died a long time ago. The fact that Jameis Winston with all those weapons he had and still has, has underperformed for 5 years straight and somehow still has a starting position is mind boggling

Agreed, once they hit college I’m sure they are switch or voluntarily switch to positions of higher success, especially if the goal is to make it to the nfl

There is definitely a double standard for QB's. Hopefully it is getting better.

Also, KK, is CMC still just a slot receiver to you?

I said cmc was the best slot WR option on the team. CMC still is the best catcher of the football right up there with Smitty. He is not the ideal back for 3rd 1 or 4th and 1. He is light in the ass and is best when Norv puts him in space. Thats where he thrives. Thats hit super power. Stop Jeremy. You have been off your meds lately. Vegans are supposed to unite not have soy beef.

Yeah, considering KKs talk about CMC, he may not be the best one to point this out.

Solid points he's making, but still a bit of pointing fingers at himself.

Find the actual quote. You guys love taking things out of context when you run of of things to say. Especially you two. Bunch of huddle bullies.

some of us were alive when it was an actually real thing.  when it was 'common knowledge' that black guys couldn't play qb.   the diluted thoughts persist in some but its been great to see that myth get put to bed.

"He is a slot WR"

Lol

To be fair to him, cmc did not look like an Alvin, Gurley, Zeke type back early on. He has VASTLY improved his strength and ability to break tackles. I totally get where KK was coming from, but a lot of us thought he would get there with NFL strength training.

mintchew is getting love because its hilarious and reminds us of uncle rico.  he's not being serious or trying to be high fashion.   clinton portis got so much love for his characters.   cam is dressing like a babushka and taking it seriously.  do you see any difference here besides race?  cam gets made fun of because he takes his outfits seriously.  he's not playing a character, he's trying to be 'high fashion' with no sense of humor.    that's what makes it funny, but not in the same way.   it would be no different if he was white, sorry

This is spot on.

I have never been one to make fun of Cam's clothing at all. I always have stuck up for him. He should dress how he wants to dress.

However, fans like it when players don't take themselves too seriously. Fitz doing a presser wearing another guys outfit that clearly wasn't his style.  Or Minshew with a ridiculous porn mustache and headband that is obviously for comedic effect.  Josh Norman in that wrestling mask after games was amazing.  Portis was great at it.

Tons of fans make fun of Russel Wilson dressing like a middle aged dad or Matt Ryan looking like a walking tampon.

Cam is interested in cutting edge high fashion. Football fans typically hate cutting edge high fashion.

    • It's not impossible to go from worst to first.  We kept Evero because anyone in there right mind knew our defense was destroyed by injuries, not the scheme.  Evero has been given a plethora of talent between free agency and the draft, not to mention getting DB back. I fully expect our defense to be very good.  I have no reason to think Jones would say something like that unless he truly felt like that.
    • We would’ve played Florida and lost in the 1st instead of the 3rd round.  Montreal would have been the 8 seed.
    • I can't get behind a purely subjective re-draft as a method of defining "top-10 QB" status. That invites bias based on vibes/hypotheticals and can ignore actual on-field performance. You and others have said that Bryce has to be a top-10 QB to justify the pick. That's a high bar, which I'm not against, but we need a clear, consistent way to measure it. When I bring up metrics that Bryce has registered in the top-10 in like BTT%, P2S ratio, catchable deep ball rate, etc... they're waved off as either irrelevant or the expected baseline performance. Meanwhile, volume stats like passing yards or win-loss records, both of which depend heavily on roster talent, health, and coaching, are treated as definitive. That's where the inconsistency kicks in. If no performance metric ever counts in his favor and the answer is always going to be "he should be doing that," then we're not evaluating him... we're just holding him to a curve he can't win against. If this is really about performance standards, then let's define them. But if it's just about confirming prior takes based on height and weight, then let's call it what is it and stop pretending that this is a football analysis discussion.
