Did Cam’s dabs and grandiose celebrations lead to his downfall injury wise?

Cam did nothing but celebrate. Big blk QB that can back up what he says. It's not the intensity that Cam brought was bad. It made the game interesting. What was bad was that players were not punished for the illegal hits. The NFL itself did not like CAM and this is where I turn my TV off. Defenders and refs were doing what they were allowed to do. Other QBs you could not even touch without getting penalized and fined. Cam was open season and they took advantage of it.

that definitely happened with the head shots and refs.   didn't cause his injuries but it happened.  and they were by and large black guys taking those head shots.  it wasn't racist.  it was smashing the guy who smashed them and dabbed on them.   that's how sports works.   refs are a different story.   its literally why the old timers say 'act like you've been there before'.  because when you can play like cam could and celebrate like he does people on the other team are gonna wanna knock your block off even more.   and they did.  that's just life.

Anyone that actually believes a football player celebrating with their teammates justifies literal headhunting to the extreme point of trying to give someone a potential brain injury is beyond reasoning with on any intellectual level. That's some bullshit lower than even Saints fans, and that's pretty fugging low.

.  cam brought the headhunting on himself.  the refs didn't stop it.   they should have

Eh. I can see how with this board’s recent history people would take issue with the subject of it. I tend to think that in a vacuum, it’s a fair point of discussion, but I see why nobody thinks that discussion is likely to be productive at this moment, so I feel ya.

I think it would have been a more relevant discussion if Cam were suffering from a concussion. The shoulder was destined to be an issue based on throwing mechanics alone despite taking a hit. The foot was just an occurrence, although I wouldn’t call it random it certainly had no correlation with players targeting him or his celebration for that matter as it was noncontact.

This has been the biggest problem, his brains have been scrambled.

Pie for that video. The NFL has now cheated the Panthers out of two Superbowls.

The NFL like the NBA OBVIOUSLY influences officials to manufacture THEIR desired outcome.

They never said it would be a fair game so enjoy football with that knowledge in mind.

REMEMBER the 49ers playoff game at BofA. The officials cheated their asses off.

Watch out Sunday folks.

One thing that has been apparent over the years is it really seems like Cam brings out something in opposing defenders that other QBs don’t. It always seems like when opposing defenders hit or sack Cam, they do it with an agenda and with intensity other QBs just don’t experience.

I think back to alll the times other defenders have mocked his Superman pose and dabs when they sack him. Then the Titans game a few years back when he got in the defender’s face after a TD and rubbed it in.

Or the Bucs game where he slowed down and held out the ball before he reached the end zone in a taunting manner. It’s almost like players see that and it’s frowned upon so they make sure to go extra hard after Cam and “humble” him.

Look at the sacks Kyle Allen has taken so far, just very light, garden variety sacks, definitley not with the same force and aggressiveness as with Cam.

I think you need a “little” more intensity to bring down a 6’6 foot 250 pound monster vs bringing down Kyle Allen lmao. No disrespect to Kyle Allen he has grit, but this is just common sense.

Can't agree.

If you want to say he drew some extra hard hitting, that I could understand. But shots to the head are dirty. Nobody deserves those, especially not just for celebrating or even showboating.

Yeah, but I couldn't help but stand and cheer for the Panthers when they knocked Dion and Irvin out of that playoff game back in the day. Epic.

    • Interestingly I think we have kind of of gone through this as an organization. Richardson implemented an FO driven tank. Bad roster, no cash spent, coach uninterested. It may have been for different reasons but I think the results were the same. A team that wasn't going to win many if any games. We ended up with the #1 pick. Cam Newton came in and changed the franchise. It worked, but Cam himself pointed to the losing culture in the locker room needing to be changed. It probably took about 2-3 years for that to happen. Tank worked pretty damn well for us. Cam is one of one. Not another like him, everyone can't deliver on his draft status AND change a culture basically on his own.  So as an exercise here are the last 30 #1 picks. If you tanked and got to pick #1 how many of these guys do you think were worth it? Not just good players, but franchise changers. Guys who will take your culture and shift it so the tank was actually worth it. I would say maybe 9 or 10 guys would be worth a tank, pending the last 5 picks?    2025: Cam Ward (Miami (FL)) - Tennessee Titans 2024: Caleb Williams (USC) – Chicago Bears 2023: Bryce Young (Alabama) – Carolina Panthers 2022: Travon Walker (Georgia) – Jacksonville Jaguars 2021: Trevor Lawrence (Clemson) – Jacksonville Jaguars 2020: Joe Burrow (LSU) – Cincinnati Bengals 2019: Kyler Murray (Oklahoma) – Arizona Cardinals 2018: Baker Mayfield (Oklahoma) – Cleveland Browns 2017: Myles Garrett (Texas A&M) – Cleveland Browns 2016: Jared Goff (California) – Los Angeles Rams 2015: Jameis Winston (Florida State) – Tampa Bay Buccaneers 2014: Jadeveon Clowney (South Carolina) – Houston Texans 2013: Eric Fisher (Central Michigan) – Kansas City Chiefs 2012: Andrew Luck (Stanford) – Indianapolis Colts 2011: Cam Newton (Auburn) – Carolina Panthers 2010: Sam Bradford (Oklahoma) – St. Louis Rams 2009: Matthew Stafford (Georgia) – Detroit Lions 2008: Jake Long (Michigan) – Miami Dolphins 2007: JaMarcus Russell (LSU) – Oakland Raiders 2006: Mario Williams (North Carolina State) – Houston Texans 2005: Alex Smith (Utah) – San Francisco 49ers 2004: Eli Manning (Mississippi) – San Diego Chargers 2003: Carson Palmer (USC) – Cincinnati Bengals 2002: David Carr (Fresno State) – Houston Texans 2001: Michael Vick (Virginia Tech) – Atlanta Falcons 2000: Courtney Brown (Penn State) – Cleveland Browns 1999: Tim Couch (Kentucky) – Cleveland Browns 1998: Peyton Manning (Tennessee) – Indianapolis Colts 1997: Orlando Pace (Ohio State) – St. Louis Rams 1996: Keyshawn Johnson (USC) – New York Jets 1995: Ki-Jana Carter (Penn State) – Cincinnati Bengals
