Can't do much better at this point in the season to bring in depth than someone that is decent and very familiar with the team.

Him being a Butler replacement if Vern can't go this week is a bit of a scary thought but he can definitely add some DE depth and run stuffing ability that we have been sorely lacking.

So we're going to basically CAP him where he's only going to be active if there's an injury to another player?

Also, LOL @ signing a 270 pounder to potentially replace a 330 pounder.

Our +300 lb big boys are currently Poe, Mccoy, Butler, and Love. Losing Short is really hurting right now..

I'll honestly be shocked if our 1st or 2nd round pick isn't a 290+ pound DL. Hell, a double dip wouldn't surprise me. As thin as we are at DL this year, it's gets a lot worse down the road. McCoy is only on a one year deal, Short is a potential cap casualty, Poe will be going into the final year of his deal and all three are 30+ as well. Then there's Love who is also 30+ on a one year deal and Butler set to be a FA.

It's very possible - I'd honestly go so far as to say it's likely - that one of our current DTs are on the roster beyond next year.

I really hope there isn't an early run on IDL early in the draft due to how thin the position is this year. If Derrick Brown(Auburn) and Javon Kinlaw(South Carolina) go top 15 then we are likely looking at bottom of the 1st/top of the 2nd players being left for our pick which will likely be around 19 or 20. Neville Gallimore(Oklahoma) and Marvin Wilson(FSU) would be the reach picks that ideally we would get in the 2nd round but probably end up going late 1st or early 2nd. Trading down and getting one of them would be a move that wouldn't upset me. If Hurney is still around I think Kinlaw will be one of his main targets. He projects around the 10-20 range and Hurney likes drafting the local kids.
