That's right, the very bottom. He is making peanuts. He's below even Reggie Bonnafon. This gives us flexibility and will allow us to pursue all options at kicker for the future.

We've seen the highs and lows of an inconsistent rookie kicker, and we've also seen the highs and lows of an inconsistent veteran kicker. Maybe it's time to meet somewhere in the middle?

If we picked him up on waivers then yeah, we assumed the contract Pittsburgh gave him in FA.

I like Slye!! He’s missed some easy shots!! But I think he will be better next year!! Putting too much pressure o. Himself!! I feel Kasay cost us the Super Bowl by kicking it out of bounds!! He was our clutch kicker!! So I say give Slye another year

There is no next year for a kicker with a percentage that Slye has. I cant imagine him making any roster in the NFL.

Only the prorated part of his salary. They already paid and are accountable for bonuses. It's like 700,000 this year.  We can release him and owe nothing, have zero cap hit, and zero dead cap.

The Butker debacle makes me so angry. It was a no brainer to let Gano go with that age\contract combo....but here we are.

Definitely not a no brainer. He was an unknown at that point and given the history Gano it made more sense to stick with Gano. Obviously now that we can see into the future it makes sense to pick him over Gano but at the time the right decision was based on the info we had. 

We could have literally had the same debate this year. Slye was doing pretty good in the preseason and was looking pretty good and many him wanted over Gano. Well 10 games into season you have a more complete picture of what the new kicker can do.
