I thought he pulled a few games as interim head coach there. Suppose I was wrong.

Roman has the "assistant head coach" title in Baltimore (same as Campbell in New Orleans) but he's never been a head coach, not even an interim.

Neither of those teams have ever been a defensive powerhouse in the past few years.

Nolan isn't the DC there but he has been one in the past and has produced some pretty stellar defenses. His Ravens defense some years back got him a head coaching job in San Francisco.

Likewise, Marinelli ran a defense in Tampa that got him a head coaching job in Detroit.  Given that he's 70 years old though, I'd much prefer him as a DL coach and Nolan (age 51) as the DC.

You may be thinking of Jim Tomsula? Roman was there only for Harbaugh’s tenure and he left after his last season, wasn’t fired during it.

If you do that, then its likely we get someone who was fired from their previous position.

Colbert has never been fired but he's not under contract in Pittsburgh beyond this season and there are rumors he wants out.

Ireland was fired from Miami, but thanks to his work in New Orleans (current title there is "Assistant GM") there's a lot of buzz that he'll get another shot.

None of the others have prior GM experience.

How come you never mention Mike McCarthy? I could easily see Tepper going with a "Household Name"

Because the Steeler method doesn't hire retread head coaches.

Tepper would be departing from what he knows to go after a guy like McCarthy.

Mike Nixon was the Chicago Cardinals and Redskins head coach prior to the Steelers.

The "Steeler Method" is pure speculation that Tepper will simply act like the Rooney's. Why make such a simpleton assumption about him? Considering the Steelers haven't had a coach from the offensive side since 1968, why not assume Tepper won't look at any of the offensive guys?
