Yeah, this doesn’t sit well for Tepper.  If this team struggles for a few more years the fans will leave in droves.

Ron was never going to win a championship with this team. This was the right move regardless of what happens with the next coach. To have a chance to be competitive, we have to be willing to try new things.

We don’t have to be willing, Tepper will do what he wants and we don’t matter.  So far he’s not batting very well.

I did get one little hint there that Rivera might think Tepper's standards are too high.

When he talked about Tepper not tolerating sustained mediocrity, he pointed to the Patriots as the only team in the league that isn't up and down (not true; the Steelers have been continuously winning and others have been fairly consistent).

That part sounded a little like excuse making.

Rivera just won over the majority of people that have never watched him hold a press conference.  The guy will end up with a job somewhere and the fans will love him.  I really hope he wins a Lombardi wherever he goes.  He’s a good man.

Man, that did not go how I thought it would.  Haven't watched the entirety of it bc I didn't know it had started until I flipped the TV on and NFLN was live streaming it already.  I saw most of it though.  Was kind of awkward.  I figured Ron would go out with a "we did things the right way, and I'm proud of that. Thanks" - humble-type of exit.  Nope.  That was very defiant.  Seemed very appreciative of JR but very short on words or niceties for Tepper.  Kept rattling off the 3 consecutive division champs, but man, that was years ago...  yeah, we did it, and be proud of it, but it doesn't give you a pass to lose and ignore that you need to make adjustments.  He seemed to really feel like he knew his time was up when JR left.  He attributed his successes completely to his time under JR and said Tepper wanted his own guy.

Interesting enough, as I was watching on the NFLN, Schraeger said he grew close to Ron over the years bc his first experience with him was reporting about Cam's benching over the tie and how he went on NFLN the next morning and said Ron lost the team and the players didnt respect him, etc.  He said he had to work the sideline for our game the next week, and when he walked in, he said Brandon Beane told him, "Ron's not too happy with you, bro."  Said he walked in, Ron read him the riot act, then smiled.  Told him he had a responsibility with his platform and needed to realize his words had power.  Said he grew close with Rivera over the years after that, and that Ron made him a better person/reporter.

But man, that presser wasn't really what I expected at all...

Exactly my thought. He said a few days ago that he didn't accept mediocrity, either. Well, he basically just said that's the only option (or lose all the time I guess). Not the right mindset, I think.

Ron “I aint changin for anyone “ Rivera is His own worst enemy.  I’ve been in the NFL for 33 years and I make decisions based on my experience is fine as far as it goes.  But disregarding the modern game is his fatal flaw.  He had the opportunity to coach out the season ifhemade some personnel changes but ldwouldnt because he didnt think it led to winning.  Well you lost the last four games so how much uchworse can it get.
