Perry Fewell - Addresses Team for first time

I don't think anyone wants him to fail, unless you just mean for draft position.

What I find very interesting is that Tepper does seem to realize that Hurney is a poo GM but can hit home runs in the first round. A lot of people jokingly said we should keep Hurney to just do 1st round picks well.....this MFer sure looks to be leaning to something close to that lol...that would be hilariously great.

This whole thing is about the draft.

Firing Ron mid-season blows up the continuity of the coaching staff. Higher probability the teams loses. If the team loses- higher draft pick.

A top 10 draft pick could give a new coach/ (possibly new GM) options in the draft.

If a QB falls a few spots, you can trade up - Cam is in play. If not, you still have Cam for the cheap.

Losing is the best option for this teams future. And it means that nobody wants Perry Fewell to string together a few meaningless wins to pretend like they're going to hire him and give us a mediocre draft pick.

Remember, putting Perry in this role and ‘considering’ him for the full time gig meets the Rooney Rule criteria.

The best way to stay "woke" is to balance it with being "thorough."

I saw Whitlock saying something like this. It would be more believable, if Tepper wasn't a big part of Eric Reid coming back. This guy isn't who we thought Jerry Richardson was.

But even Jerry drafted Cam Newton.

he drafted Cam Newton and then brought in Frank Luntz to teach him how to talk to white people lmfao

Valid. But Cam needed it. He's not a strong speaker. Or writer. It's not everyone's strong suit.

Frank Luntz should go work for Donald Trump.

Fewell is getting an extended audition here and will be the first coach given an official, serious interview for the permanent position. He's turned the secondary around since he got here (it hasn't been the defensive problem it once was) and has a good amount of coaching experience, including some time as an interim head coach before. He will also qualify as the Rooney candidate. This is a good thing and it gives a good, young coach a good shot at a head coaching position on a team he understands and is respected by.

If he's eventually chosen as a head coach here, I think we'd do pretty well.

    • Thats a weird take, we had no chance at keeping Kobe
    • "by name"?  You mean they are letting him say he is retiring or stepping down? That's even more embarrassing than being fired (he basically quit) and so transparently false that the media will kill him and this university.  If this happens, I may just turn full fledge to an SMU fan since I live in Dallas now. I'm just about sick of this university's approach to basketball and football.
