Hurney will get demoted to director of college scouting, and hopefully have a good staff under him to handle rounds 2-7. It’s either that or become unemployed if he’s not down for the demotion cuz he won’t get a gm job anywhere else. And we know this because we saw it happen already.

Totally. His future is as clear as day.

It means he's going to bring his own guys in, but they have limited NFL front office experience. Hurney will see us through this draft and basically hand off his job to the successors.

Welcome to corporate life conquering football.

If anyone comes up with a vision statement, refers to players as depreciating assets, or starts using buzzwords like synergy, i’m out.

So this is the third topic and in those topics you posted numerous posts. So maybe 24 posts in 24 hours on this topic alone.  Yeah not an issue........

I mean, it’s kind of a huge topic right now. And whether you agree with him or not, Scot will make a thread and then stick around in it to discuss his thoughts with everyone that wants to. I don’t see why that would be seen as a negative compared to a lot of the hit and run bullshit we see on here?

Got a link?

According to Garafolo, there is an expectation that the assistant general manager will be the eventual replacement for Hurney. This move just may not happen in the coming weeks as previously expected. The current GM may get another season to prove that he is the long-term answer for the Panthers.

It was on nfl network, trying to find video of it. The above is from a website I'll link below. What I gather is lots of things out in the open about Hurney but most are saying hes safe for now. While I dont like it, I completely expect him to be the gm for at least next season.

Can't say that I object to his posts or the content. On that front I think he does a good job. My complaint is the way he tries to criticize anyone who disagrees with him. If being a contrarian means not buying into the negative complaining, bitching and whining then I am totally guilty as charged. I don't buy many of the tinfoil hat posts that folks make and support the team and the personnel. Gee I figured that made me every bit as much a fan as those who nitpick, criticize and complain all the time. I put my money where my mouth is and go to every game I can and will root for the team for the rest of the year. This is the last of this era. Next year might look very different.  It is funny to me that you get criticized for not buying into huddle logic which are the thoughts of a small group of posters who dominate every topic and call out anyone who disagree with them as trolls. But let me stop this terrible wall of text.

Yeah, that's not actually saying that it'll take a year to fill that position. It's just saying that Marty isn't being fired immediately and that he might get as much as a year to prove he's worth keeping.

He also called filling that position "the first step in the process". You don't put off the first step for a year. Also worth noting that while Marty may even keep the GM title, it's quite likely with his duties and powers being pared down.

A lot of what I'm reading now makes me think Marty is here through the draft, after which he and probably most or all of the personnel department will be let go. If he does stay, it might be under a different title.

FYI: This quote may help explain a lot about why Tepper wants somebody else in the front office mix. It's from the press meeting discussing the drafting of Greg Little.

Not sure how many of you remember Andrew Mason. He was the primary writer on the Panthers team site for a while before moving to the Broncos.
