Supposing we do hire McDaniels, Caserio or both

I believe you're the first to admit that, and I doubt you're alone, but it won't surprise me if some folks just don't want to speak those words.

Dude could trade away Luke, Cam, CMC, Moore, Shaq, Bradberry, literally everyone, and I wouldn't care if the end result was wins.

I have to admit, I'm pretty win focused too.

McDaniels is not my first choice (my favorite hasn't been connected to the Panthers just yet) but yeah, if he wins...

Planning to, but I'm probably going to do it a little at a time. I'm trying to get a sense of who the real candidates are. Right now there's an awful lot of speculation.

Likely will first start by gathering individual profiles of guys like Greg Roman, Josh McDaniels and Kevin Stefanski.

Also want to pull some info on Nick Caserio and anyone else who might be up for the new VP job.

Brian Shottenheimer should be in the mix also, IMO

I'd pretty excited about the possibly of adding Caserio if it comes to that. This team needs a fresh look when it comes to personnel and I think he could set this team up for long term success and could navigate the cap more effectively. I've seen it referenced that the way we structure contracts is "archaic". I think any attempt at landing him would mean Hurney would need to be reassigned or let go all together. Even then, I think he still ends up in Houston with all his connections there.

I'm less thrilled about the prospects of McDaniels. Ive had my concerns with him after his stint in Denver and after what he pulled with Indy. I dont think he is the offensive mastermind many have painted him to be, and this season in NE has been telling.

Call me crazy, but I honestly wouldn't mind hiring a coach that had a lot of the same qualities we had in Rivera. I think its more important to nail down the proper supporting staff which played a large part of the downfall of Rivera in my opinion.

Hiring McDaniels would probably be it for me.  I'm already 1700 miles away from Charlotte and maybe get to see the Panthers four times a year on the tube.  McDaniels would push me over the edge.  The man is the north end of a southbound horse.

A couple of people have said that.

I guess I'm in the camp that while I might find it distasteful, it wouldn't stop me from being a fan. The stuff that puts me off is real world, off-the-field stuff. As far as I know, neither McDaniels nor Caserio have any history of that.

And hey, there's a good chance Caserio is pretty pissed at his former team, so there's that.

A few things on McDaniels. Did he fail in Denver and get fired? Yes. He was also 33 years old at the time of his hiring. Bill Belichick got fired once too. I'm not saying McDaniels is the second coming of Belichick, but it's important to remember how young he was.

In regards to what he pulled with Indianapolis, I definitely understand any skepticism. From what I've read and heard on numerous interviews, McDaniels would only want to join an organization that is stable from an ownership situation and not a clown show like Cleveland or the Giants. Jim Irsay isn't on the level of Haslam in Cleveland but he's got some nuttiness to him.

In regards to the Patriots offense this season, they are beyond abysmal when it comes to their skill position players, think 2010 Panthers minus Smitty of course. They've also played in games with insane weather elements (wind in Philly & rain game vs. Dallas). Their offensive line has been hit with injuries. The Patriots are great on defense and special teams so they're not going to go crazy on offense to potentially put their defense in a bad spot. Also, Brady is old.

I'm not saying I'd love the hire. But it's possible that he's learned from his mistakes and that will make him a better coach the second time around.

Nice avi by the way @NYPantherFan, I like your style.

the only reason kraft isn't on my shite list completely is i watched my dad go thru this period of making lewd comments about women as part of his dementia.   if it comes out kraft has been a skeeze his whole life it'll be different.  i held out hope that's what it was for mister too, but he had a long pattern of it.

Well I think the pile of trophies in Foxboro disagrees with you......

The truth is, professional and revenue college sports are rife with cheating. It's no surprise, because millions and billions of dollars are at stake. It is no different than insider trading or some of the financial industry misconduct that has been exposed over the past 20 years. When that much money is involved, people will take short cuts. It is human nature.

It doesn't make it right, it just makes it what it is.

Yep, and that's why I personally never had a real problem with the Pats. They're always on the edge of legal/illegal on and off the field.

I don't know of anything specific McDaniels did in the quest to actually cheat. If others do, enlighten me.

i believe he was stupid enough to do illegal taping with denver after his previous franchise had already been caught doing it.   i think linvillegorge said he was in co at the time mcd was coach and it was a mess of gigantic proportions

He was caught doing some filming shenanigans in Denver during his time there.
