The "defensive head coach" tag needs to stop with Ron. He's lost his touch he had 10 years ago. When a coach loses his ability to do the one thing he's good at and it's the reason why he's hired in the first place, he's then just a bad coach.

Until Ron realizes that his Cover 2 scheme is antiquated in today’s quick throw offenses, he will continue to look like an idiot.  Cover 2 allowed for a higher completion percentage than any other defense over the past few years. It’s simply too easy to find guys in the seams/holes.

Rivera sounds desperate and like he's trying too hard to sound confident.  I don't think he really has a philosophy he can articulate.  He doesn't want to be labeled a players' coach and he's not a disciplinarian.  The "Riverboat" nickname is an oxymoron because he's pathetically cowardly in taking risks unless his job is on the line.   It also sounds like he may have clashed with Hurney on roster decisions more than we knew.

One thing that strikes me about his comments.  We’ve all blamed Ron for playing vets to long or not giving younger players the opportunity to showcase their skills, his comments make it seem like that wasn’t his decision to make and if it wasn’t then who was calling the shots?
