how can anyone look at this team and say Hurney has done a great job?

How can anyone ask this question after knowing what transpired this year?

I’m not a Hurney lover but everything went wrong for us this year and everyone thought we looked fantastic on paper before the season started and the injuries started racking up.

Plenty of Hurney guys on this team that aren’t injured and are playing horribly. Just look at his track record and how the Panthers are the only team who wanted him.

Yeah, but are they playing horribly because they’re bad or because of the other injuries/this team completely collapsed?

I’m in the boat that thinks we should part ways from Hurney but I think there’s other reasons this team is bad and it doesn’t all fall on Hurney.

I guess what I’m trying to say is this is a stupid thread and is unfair to say, “look at how bad this team is!” when it’s the last game of the season, we’re 5-10, and we’re not playing for anything. Plus, we’re playing against a team who is far superior than us this year.

All of which points to a crappy team that hurney has put together.

Apparently David Tepper has.

Maybe his 1 step backwards 2 steps forward comment means he'll keep Marty and let him run is onto the ground again for the #1 pick so we can draft Lawerence.

Then we'll hear from some more panthers fans who will jump on the bandwagon telling us how the new successful team's credit is die to Hurney, because he drafted Trevor Lawerence at #1

Muh first round picks! Don't you know to build a great team all you need is to make great first round picks? The other rounds are a crapshoot and who cares about UDFA even though that's where Norwell was picked up at. Don't worry about shoring up the rest of the roster with depth none of that matters.

    • You're assuming just as well.   Morgan and Canales were hired 3 days apart.  I believe it was partially due to their connections in Seattle.  i believe Tepper wanted some familiarity with his GM and HC.  It is so easy to sit back and arm-chair QB over draft picks.  You don't know what the philosophy was going into the 2024 draft.  I believe Canales and Morgan were drafting for the future.  XL and Brooks point to that philosophy. Name me one GM that is 100% on draft picks.  Just one.  You're not going to find one.    I think year one picks weren't for what can you do for me now but Potential.   XL hasn't lived up to the hype of a 1st rounder.  I think we all can agree on that. However, there still is hope he comes around.  What I believe they saw in him was his speed after the catch.  He needs to get more consistent but when he gets the ball you kind of hold your breath just a second because if he gets free, he's gone.  The Brooks pick was a signing for the future, and no one could have guessed he would re-injure the same ACL.  This makes the pick look bad but Dallas was ready to draft him later that same round.  IMO we'll have to see what happens next season before we can call this a bust. Wallace has improved each season and for a third rounder has done well.  Sanders has shown flashes and considering the pick in the 4th round it wasn't a bad pick.  His sophomore season IMO was a little bit more productive.  Smith-Wade has been a good addition and has played well.  For a 5th round pick to get as much playing time as he has.  Most picks below round 3 should take a couple of years to get up to speed.  He's been a decent player.  Crumedy, no comment We turned Barrett into Jackson.  This was an amazing move and basically got a starting CB for a 7th round pick.  Pretty shrewd if you ask me. Coker, maybe the best Free Agent signing of the 2024 draft class. So, in short, you can't say that the draft was a bust.  It isn't a home run but all but one are still on the team and outside of Brooks have made contributions to wins.  2025 draft class has been much better with almost every pick making contributions this season.  Now take Fitterer's two years and compare them to Morgan and tell me that they have the same philosophy.
    • He hasn’t led crap, he’s on loaded teams and a piece of the puzzle. And he’s he has improved drastically but it took the ultimate QB whispers in Shanahan and KOC. You put him on this Panther team and he’s back to normal Darnold
    • Slavin and Jarvis week to week. Florida cheap shots took out our two best players.  I’d start KK so he can beat the brakes off someone.
