Hall of Fame class to be announced tomorrow

Mr. Scot

I just don't see Mills making it. He's beloved here, a true legend, and he's remembered in New Orleans, but outside of that I just don't think he's as much of a memorable player. There are a few historians on that board that might pull for him, along with our local rep and the New Orleans one, but I just don't think he's ever going to grab enough votes.

I hate it, too, because he was one great guy, who had a great career as both a player and a coach (starting in the USFL of all places) and he still serves as an inspiration both to the Panthers and all undersized players who want to conquer the game with smarts, knowledge, hard work and heart.

And yet, a turd like Terrell Owens gets in. Name recognition is a big deal.

Bill Cowher and Jimmy Johnson have already been notified. The rest will be announced tomorrow. Specifically, tomorrow morning on NFL Network per Albert Breer.

Don't like to get my hopes up, but.like I'm sure all of us are, I'm pulling for Sam Mills.

You will not find out about Sam Mills tomorrow. The HOF class will still be announced the Saturday before the Super Bowl.

tomororw they are announcing the special centennial class that they are doing for the 100th season. Tomorrow they are announcing the 2 coaches, which have already been announced in Cowher and Jimmy Johnson, 3 executives, and 10 played who are no longer eligible.

10 of the following 20 finalists will be announced as players tomorrow:

Cliff Branch, Harold Carmichael, Jimbo Covert, Roger Craig, Bobby Dillon, LaVern Dilweg, Ox Emerson, Randy Gradishar, Cliff Harris, Winston Hill, Cecil Isbell, Alex Karras, Verne Lewellen, Tommy Nobis, Drew Pearson, Donnie Shell, Duke Slater, Mac Speedie, Ed Sprinkle, and Al Wistert.

Breer said "we'll know who else gets in" tomorrow in his latest MMQB. Granted, he could just be talking about the centennial class, and if so yeah, we'll have to wait to find out about Mills.

You have a-holes like Owens get in but someone like Sam who was a pro on and off the field still hasn’t got enough votes. Regardless of whether he ever does he’s always going to be a HOFer in my mind.

OJ is in the Hall of Fame.

I'd say that's a pretty clear statement that off the field stuff isn't exactly top priority.

Damn you know it’s bad when huddle “insider” NJPanthers12 is taking a 2X4 to Mr.Scott. Scotty has been getting rag-dolled all week.

He was inducted in 1985, long before there was any "off the field stuff"

Correct, but there have been petitions since to remove him. The league has stated that they won't.

Some people would probably point to Ray Lewis in the same vein. I'm not a big Lewis hater but some are.

I do think that with the increased awareness on things like domestic violence and such, people with black marks on their record may conceivably find themselves having a harder time getting inducted.

Some guys on this list I find hard to believe they're not already in- Cliff Branch (3 rings, among other things); Tommy Nobis, Alex Karras, Drew Pearson and Donnie Shell (4 rings).
