No matter the weapons and the way the league is moving towards. Games are still won in the trenches.

Patrick Mahomes is a Generational talent.  But he has the help keeping him upright from former #1 Overall Pick Erick Fisher at LT.

DL

Chris Jones (2nd rounder turned probowler)

Traded a 1st for probowl Edge Rusher Frank Clark.

Watching the 49ers dominate

Their DL consists of

- #2 Overall Bosa

- #7 Overall Deforest Buckner

- 1st rounder (#17) Arik Armstead

- Pro Bowl Edge rusher they traded for, Dee Ford

- #3 Overall Solomon Thomas

Their OL

-LT: Joe Staley (1st rounder)

- LG: Laken Tomlinson (1st rounder of Detroit)

-RT: Mike McGlinchey (1st rounder)

Meanwhile we were the bottom of the league on both sides of the trenches this year.

Yup and if we can fix the trenches, you look around and see the rest of the team doesnt look so bad.

As Rhule found out. All this air raid this and that, passing league, this and that. The 49ers have three(now two) RBs using old time football philosophy to win games. Running it up the ars of the rest of the NFL.

Let's not forget the running of Cam and Stew on the way to the SuperBowl. No matter how you do it, hitting em' in the mouf always works. If the 49ers win, this copy cat league will be fielding three running backs.

Agreed, but I think scheme and coaching is way more important than talent on the D and O lines. You can scheme around deficiencies on both lines. We’ve just never seen that because of our crappy coaching lately....

Definitely, I dont think the lines are as bad as they have seemed but when you have bad coaches and a young backup qb playing behind the oline they look worse. I think the interiors of the lines are the most important to deal with this offseason, DT is our oldest position with the least depth and effects the lbs and secondary behind them. A bad center can make the whole line look bad wich makes the whole offense look bad.

Let's wait to see if the 49ers can beat the Chiefs, one of the most pass first teams in NFL history.  I'm skeptical they can.

They wasted Cam trying to force a round peg into a square hole. Cam didn't get injured on a designed run. Cam was a prolific runner with great vision and a knack for avoiding blows having perfected his baseball slide. He was getting abused in the pocket like no other. My contention had always been why not cover for your iffy pass blocking by getting the hog mollies moving. Rhule is the most Chud like hire. This should be good for a healthy Cam and CMC. Be the hammer, not the nail.

If this franchise has ever had an identity it is that we valued RBs more than most teams and WRs were chosen for YAC and blocking desire and ability.

    • Yea when teams see a gun charge they rightly pause but this seems like a big misunderstanding.
    • Sorry man you lost me at "Teppers have evolved as owners". Limped into playoffs at 8-9 not even above .500 Tepper is trash as an owner bro and that's not even a discussion at this point. 37-83 w/l ratio. Nuff said.... Morgan tho, he's cooking and it ain't cuz of Teppers leadership
    • After listening to Morgan's presser twice, I came away with some key beliefs. First of all, I don't think he's a bullshitter. What you see is what you get. When he says something, he means it.  The Teppers really have evolved as owners. Morgan has mentioned how they're easy to work with--a pleasure to work with a few times now. There seems to be a good relationship between all of them (and include Dave Canales on that). We'll see if it lasts. Yes, no one wanted to come to Carolina with the previous management, but that seems to have changed. The team signed arguably the top Edge, LB and OT on the market, two of them on pretty good deals and one on what I'll say is "not a bad one." And, credit Sunshine Dave "Flowers and Cotton Candy" Canales for helping to change the culture. Morgan mentioned getting guys--and I'm paraphrasing--that are not only great football players but great people. Don't look for us to be acquiring any James Pearce types anytime soon, just saying. We'll see if that holds true in the future. Dan Morgan really has set up the Panthers to take the BPA/BAP. He mentioned it at least a couple of times, and he doesn't seem pressured to pinpoint a particular position. He just wants quality players that will help the team. This is how it's going to be (to your joy or dismay, probably for as long as he's here), and personally I love it. Many of us know how Morgan was when he played: aggressive! That's what he's going to be when making acquisitions. He explicitly said it, and emphasized it. All avenues are open (think FA, waivers...the draft)! Personally, as long as it's controlled aggression and not reckless aggression, I love it.  On KP: "Mobility is big in this league."  He basically says if another QB is the BPA while drafting--we're going by our board, people--we're going to add them.        ...
