So this isn't a bad mock in terms of trades and what the mock has teams going after.  Raiders trade up with us take pick 7 and draft their Derek Carr replacement in Justin Herbert.  Panthers receive picks 12, 18, and 80th pick.  With the 12th pick Panthers luck up and their dream comes true with snagging a top 5 player at pick 12 in DT Derrick Brown.  A few picks later Panthers pick their Kuechly replacement with the best inside linebacker in the draft in MLB Kenneth Murray out of Oklahoma.   I love this mock immediately fills out 2 biggest holes on the defensive side of the ball.

I would be happy if this happened draft night.  But we all know its up in the air until draft night.

Not a chance that Derrick Brown falls out of the top 10. He's that good. Like Murray though. Wouldn't be mad at the pick, I just don't think we need a MLB this season. We'll roll with what we've got and draft a depth guy in rounds 4-7 maybe, or sign a FA.

I think we stay where we are, guarantee ourselves Brown, and then go safety in round 2 unless a good guard drops to us at that spot. If not, we pick up a guard in the 3rd.

I actually wouldn't be surprised if Brown falls, through no fault of his own.

Picks 1/2 are basically locks.  Chargers, Dolphins, Raiders (in this hypothetical) could all be fighting over QBs.  Then there is still Simmons (LB), Okudah (CB), Jeudy (WR), multiple OTs.

I am by no way saying it will happen.  But I wouldn't be surprised.

I think that Brown is way overhyped. He’s good but he’s no Suh or McCoy kind of elite prospect.

I don't know man. Ignore the title of the video and just watch. Guy has a knack for getting a hand on the ball and getting off blocks. And if he doesn't slip you, he'll blow you straight back. And he's great against the run inside. He'll have a shocking 40 at the combine as well. He's special.

There is a lot of player evaluation left but one of those top LTs and a trade back sounds mighty fine. Pick up a C with the extra pick and it would be fantastic. It's just hard to get excited about the front 7 on D when the new staff hasn't had enough time to evaluate let alone plan

They just gave that massive deal to Shaq for him to play ILB/MLB. So I doubt they'd draft a ILB unless they staying in 3-4.

I like the kid but I don’t think that he’s a top 7 prospect. To me, Brown is just a faster Dexter Lawrence.

Personally, I would definitely entertain the idea of trading back ONLY IF we miss out on Isaiah Simmons. And this is if the Raiders even want to trade up, but if not, my top priority would be definitely trading back if the Raiders are offering their top two first rounders. I really don't think Brown will be available at 12 if he's one of the top DL's in the draft, but possibly choosing A.J. Epenesa at 12 and Javon Kinlaw at 18 would be my preference. I'd keep my original second round pick to select a cornerback or safety, but adding that additional third round pick just cements the trade. You could afford to take a chance on a WR, S, or CB if you haven't chosen one or you can gain some decent depth on either side of the line with that pick. I'd like to see them go defense heavy in this draft, besides taking a chance on a WR and/or OL. Would be cool to see Epenesa, Kinlaw, KK, and Addison on the front with Burns, Miller/Kunaszyk, and Shaq all lining up behind them. Throw in that the team has about $39 million to work with in free agency and you could probably re-sign Boston and maybe Bradberry.

    • In your opinion. What do you think Moton's true value in contract, dollars and guarantees? If we had not extended him, what is your plan for RT in 27 and 28? How important are good offensive linemen for our current offense? How much value do you put on protecting Bryce at this stage of his career? How difficult in general do you think finding above average tackles in the NFL is?
    • The Falcons have 2 significant offensive line injuries to start the 2025 season. Right tackle Kaleb Mcgary (who is the blindside protector for Penix since he is left-handed) is going to miss significant time, and it's looking more like it may be all season. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/falcons-expect-kaleb-mcgary-to-miss-significant-time https://x.com/BKsquared7/status/1959285822236107013. Also, the top backup and swing tackle, Storm Norton (cool name BTW) is having ankle surgery and may miss half the season. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/falcons-ot-storm-norton-out-6-8-weeks-after-ankle-surgery I don't root for injuries, but its also hard to be too sympathetic given how badly injuries have hit us in recent years. We definitely need to get that W in week 3 for our home opener at BOA. Despite our collective frustration at not being able to attend TC and then having boring preseason games, ultimately the most important objective of the preseason is to enter Week1 healthy, and we have at least done that. Hopefully the depth we think we have at Oline either shines through or isn't needed. Many other teams are in a bad spot with their offensive lines before the season even starts. For once, we aren't in that situation.
    • That roster was billed as a super smart and strong unit for a young QB….until he sucked though.   it didn’t have superstars but it had proven vets that checked well all the safe boxes and it was universally agreed the Panthers were putting him into position to succeed. BY just doesn’t fit a traditional O because he isn’t built like a traditional QB.  And he still doesn’t.   CJ Stroud would have had more success here than Bryce with that cast.   CJ just has the tools that fit the NFL more easily.  Young can find success but I have always argued it would take a Bryce centric plan (which we have never attempted IMO)
