There is a brilliant response.

0-16 without him.

Ironic thing about this is if this had happened we would all be rejoicing over having the first overall pick and talking about our next franchise QB to pair with him. Instead we get poo.

The 2019 Carolina Panthers sucked because they couldn’t stop the run. They couldn’t stop the run because they couldn’t fit. They couldn’t fit because they changed their scheme. They changed their scheme because they felt like changing their scheme.

There were other issues, but that was the fatal flaw, IMO. They won games against two of the AFC semi-finalists with Kyle Allen at quarterback. McCaffrey’s contributions only helped matters.

I still can't believe Rivera's statements about how they wanted to use 3-4 alignments more but they couldn't because opposing offenses kept "forcing them into" other things.

The promise he made in his introductory press conference about dictating to other teams on both sides of the ball never really materialized.

You obviously missed 2018 where we couldn't stop the run either.

Handing out a potentially massive salary cap crippling extension at a luxury position like running back sounds like the opposite of a rebuild. If we are being truthful it sounds more like a Jerry Richardson type of move so many have complained about over the years. Especially when you look around the league to see the teams that have won in the postseason are using 2 or 3 back sets, none of which are amongst the top paid at their position. The only team winning with one RB was the Titans, and they got eliminated fairly quickly when they finally ran into a more well rounded team in the Chiefs. Not to mention Henry will be hitting free agency and commanding a nice fat contract.

Teams are building for the future differently now.

Not close. McCaffrey isn't just a running back. Given he plays over 90% of plays and produces as much as a good running back at 1300 yards and a good receiver at 1000 yards but only takes up one position, whatever we sign him for will be a bonus. He is worth every penny and I bet if we cut him there would be folks lined up to sign him at whatever price they could

In actuality the rushing/receiving record and use of him heavily in the passing game drives up his value even more. Hurting the ability of the team to build around him in the process. This is why winning teams aren't trying to build around one running back. I don't know why this is so hard for some of you to figure out. If we acquire our franchise QB this year or the next then we can talk. Until then building around McCaffrey without a future QB in place is akin to pissing in the wind considering how far we tumbled in 2019, especially in the division.

5-11.

I somewhat agree with you, but if you are going to be that simplistic, why not say, 6-10, 7-9, 7-8-1, 6-10, 7-9, 5-11?

Those are 6 of the 9 years where Cam Newton was our starting QB.

This is no different, and I'm not even calling for an extension.

Again he isn't a running back. He is mister everything and was an All-pro at 2 positions in the same season. Of course you can build around him.  QBs are considered so valuable because they touch the ball on every offensive play. With him accounting for 75% of the offense he is every bit as important as whoever we bring in at QB.  You are clearly alone.on this one.  He is right now the face of the franchise.

The point being McCaffrey had a Top 3 historic season and we still went 5-11 shows the value of running backs. Cam has been good to great to elite throughout the years. His best year we were in the super bowl. Maccaffrey’s best year we go 5-11.

you can’t win with just a dominant rb getting paid 100+ million. We need trenches fixed and a talented rookie Qb on a rookie deal along with that. We have none of those things. So handing cmc a mega contract seems pointless especially considering how long it’s seemingly going to take to get those two things fixed.

honestly it’s made me wish we never drafted him. We are stuck in a very tough spot organizationally. We make a wrong move and it could have a decade long affect.

I recall week 2 when mister everything couldn't get us one yard for the win at home.

Ya still need a QB bud.
