I think Olsen was the major reason Gettleman was let go.  He wanted to go another way with Olsen and JRich fired his ace for it.

Sounds about right except that if I’d had to guess it wasn’t just Olsen, it was several players that Gettleman wanted to move on from and JR wanted to keep. Either way all it got us was Hurney back so no win for the fans either way.

Olsen, you are 35 with a not so cheap contract and a nagging foot injury. You should understand why you are not being brought back. Nothing personal.

Panthers did him a solid by stating it was mutual. Greg saw no reason to sugar coat reality or need to inflate his ego by pretending it was the case. 
 

Good luck to him in his future endeavors. His years of service with a healthy cam will always be appreciated.

Olsen was great for us, but I lost my taste for him when he bit*hed to JR about a new contract.  Not surprised he didn't want to take a pay cut, especially after posting such great numbers this year.

Also his attitude after that was horrible. Publicly chewing out lower level players and Ron during games ie Rivera and Byrd during the butt catch, other small random outbursts. That kind of soured me on him.
