Patriots scouting director Monti Ossenfort's contract is reportedly up in May, but he's not as highly-touted as Caserio or Dave Ziegler.  Ziegler is under contract through next year, and though an assistant GM job would technically be a promotion for him, the Patriots still could (and probably would) refuse permission.

There are two or three good unemployed options that are available if we choose to look in that direction. Last word was that we'd probably wait until after the draft before doing anything else, but that might have been based on the idea that we'd go after Caserio.

Well in fairness Hurney has been rather busy with more important minion duties to look for his successor.
