Person: Trading up for Burrow is an option for the Panthers

Of course it's an option, it's an option for any team, duh.  Is it a realistic option? Hell no.  You can't go all in on a QB while the rest of your team is full of more holes than Swiss cheese.   This mess will not be fixed in one off-season with or without Cam Newton.  Pure lunacy I tell you.

I don't think it's gonna happen, but there's a voice in my head that says it might not be as unrealistic as we might think.

Reasons? See above.

Here’s my problem with it: it’s another narrative. These narratives pop up every so often, and they’re usually driven by people who don’t watch any game tape.

I haven’t even watched that much tape on Joe. I will. And then I’ll probably be more definitive in my assessment. But I’m definitely not diving headfirst into a conclusion based on what I know.

But I know people who have watched the tapes. I respect them. Based on early conclusions, I don’t know if it’s worth giving up all that will be asked.

That’s just my opinion. Certainly could be wrong about it.

I understand your premise but I just can't see Tepper being that crazy.  Now Hurney on the other hand? Sure, I guess it's possible.  I just think the media is making too much of the Brady hire regarding Burrow.  My money is on them doing something crazy next year to get the QB of the future, if they go after one at all.  I would not be surprised at all to also see them roll with Grier going forward.

The only way it's worth the cost is if Burrow is a sure fire HOFer and that's a huge ask for ANY draft prospect.

The compensation would likely be pretty wild.  7 to 1.  We're talking something min. wise..

2020: 1-7, 2-7, 4-7

2021: 1st, 3rd

If this is the plan, we need to get more picks via trade.  And if it's the plan to get Burrow, then yeah, we need to go ahead and get what we can for Cam.  (I.E.- Chargers 3rd & 5th) And I'm sure there's players to throw in that could help the dent in loss of draft capital (Samuel, Donte?)

Also, if such move were to happen, I'd be aggressive in keeping either our 2nd or 3rd this year even if we get more picks via trade.  Trade down to get more ahead of Rd5.  Basically, find a way to ensure min 3 picks in the first 4 rounds so we're not just selecting Burrow and drafting no help.  It would also mean I would be aggressive in the FA to get a TOP LG and serviceable LT.

1-Burrow

3-OL/DL/MLB

3-OL/DL

Remaining draft:

5,5,6,7-BPA/Skill Positions

Really the biggest loss in this type of scenario is mortgaging our 2021 1st rounder.  Picks can be accumulated beyond the first in various ways without losing the core you're building around but this would be one of the biggest trade ups in draft history and it is going hard ALL in on this Burrow.

Not to mention you're asking him to do that after a year or two of getting demolished behind 0 offensive line to start his career.

If you're going to make this move, you almost have to consider trading CMC. You gotta recoup draft capital and he's the only piece we have who could reasonably gather a significant trade haul. That'd really be a tough pill to swallow since CMC would be the ultimate security blanket for a young QB.
