There's someone who REALLY smells like the pick to me...

(Edit/Disclaimer: This has NOTHING to do with the school he's coming from, the state of South Carolina, or being anti-Clemson.  Nothing. I don't care about your alma maters or whatever the issue is)

You smell what I'm smelling?

A fine Tuesday mid-day breeze

On a rooftop in the American midwest

As you gaze upon the skyline, a most glorious sense of awesome

A man emerges, who should most definitely blossom...

There is a certain player that if you take a step back and take a big whiff, smells like the guy I can totally see us gravitating towards at #7.  And honestly, I think this gentleman maybe one we could all get on board with:

JAVON KINLAW

South Carolina Defensive Tackle 6'5 315 lbs

Behemoth of a man but an athletic, powerful force.

Quote

"If God was going to make a defensive lineman, it's this guy," McShay said back in early February after watching Kinlaw practice at the Reese’s Senior Bowl. "It took 48 hours for him to just show every NFL GM, every NFL head coach, 'I'm the guy.' Someone was smart enough, probably his agent, to say, 'You did a good enough job, bud. You can leave the Senior Bowl.' He was done in 48 hours and he made probably 12 to 15 million dollars."

Now he got his knees a bit worn at the Senior Bowl and he's being extra careful with not participating in combine drills (smart in my opinion):

I think Young, Derrick Brown, & Okudah seem primed to go high but man, I'd choose this guy over Herbert, Simmons, some of these OTs.  Maybe even Brown depending on how you look at building a D-line.  Adding him to a DL could be lethal and if you look at the 49ers recent model, could make sense in building this team from the lines out.  There's plenty of 2-4th round offensive lineman in this draft but the top-2 in this DT class are special in my view.

Maybe it's because of being a Tuesday, but Kinlaw smells like the guy.  Smells as good as Rihanna.

Over Derrick Brown?

Kinlaw is good but I'd have a hard time buying that as the best choice.

I'd take him in the event these five are gone in the top-6:

1. Burrow CIN

2. Young WAS

3. Tua MIA (trade)

4. Brown NYG

5. Okudah DET (trade)

6. ?? LAC

I  think the question is if you prefer him over the Tackles, Simmons, and the top WRs.  I can also see the Brown v. Kinlaw convo having some merit.

He is a little different than Brown but it is a flavor call.  Kinlaw has amazing traits and moves a little better than Brown.  Brown is just silly strong and bullies OL.  Both are really good.  Love how Kinlaw played his best games against elite comp.

Okudah only interests me if they let JB walk. If they keep him drafting Okudah would be a waste IMO.

    • They will be if they extend Young but I don't think we're there just yet. Morgan and Canales are tied and I don't believe Tepper is going to go look for a new front office for Bryce as things stand.
    • I was playing around with the ESPN playoff predictor and it shows if 49ers and Rams finish with same record, the Rams hold the tiebreaker.
    • This is my thinking as well. Seattle played as good as they could on defense and Panthers still had a chance until those back to back turnovers.  I don't think the Rams played particularly well in their game against us, alot things went our way in order to win.  Someone pointed out the Rams were bad on the east coast road games and Seattle has been the better road team but they just fought a hard contested game against the Panthers, and now they travel to San Fran this week for their biggest game of the season to determine the division and if they are the overall #1 seed in the NFC or will be traveling for the Wildcard weekend.  If they lose they then travel back cross the country to play a team they've just beaten two weeks ago, not saying they won't be favored against the Panthers but the energy of hosting our first playoff game in 10 years along with the get back effect of having just lost to this team could be huge.
