Absolutely nothing there mentions the franchise tag...maybe you can make one up somehow

That one didn't. It points out that Hooper is considered to be  a top (arguably the top) tight end available as opposed to just "an average player".

If you want the franchise tag speculation, don't have to make it up. Just link it, courtesy of longtime Atlanta beat writer Vaughn McClure on ESPN

Atlanta Falcons

Tight end Austin Hooper

Falcons GM Thomas Dimitroff said publicly that using the tag is an option, but realistically it's unlikely to happen for Hooper at about $10.7 million. The Falcons, who are up against the salary cap, would be better off just working out a long-term deal with Hooper rather than taking that cap hit with the franchise tag. Since the tag is unlikely, the two-time Pro Bowl tight end might find a new home.

Prediction: The Falcons won't use the franchise tag on Hooper. -- Vaughn McClure

If you need more, perhaps Falcons GM Thomas Dimitroff would serve as a reliable source...maybe?

Thanks for the info since both absolutely mention the tag is probably not an option.

So are we gonna be relatively big spenders now? We can free up about 18 million more in cap with Wright, Gano, Mike Davis and Poe

Sure. You only need an entire DL(except KK), LT, C, LG, CB or 2, FS, LB, WR, TE at least. Maybe QB. How far you think that money will go filling all those spots on a rebuilding team?

Well damn... Just replace the whole team! :)

I know this is hyperbole. Really need quality starters at LT and DT. Need to replace starters at MLB and FS, but can't have super stars at every position. The cap won't allow it.

That’s the point. There really no road to a playoff caliber team this year. This roster is in shambles. Why overpay FAs during a rebuild?

I feel like we need quality OL inside more than LT. I’d love a great LT but I don’t think Little moves well inside or Daley. I have no clue if Paradis will be healthier and better year 2, but I’d love to go DT first and then go LG/C in day 2. Someone who could man LG first and then slide over to C would be nice.

I just feel like LT just swaps out LT where as a cheaper draft pick (fine with drafting OT later as well, seems deep) at G/C could plug a big hole and possibly allow for Little/Daley to improve and fix two spots.

I also don’t think Hurney will give up on Little yet. Picking a stud DT is easy because we literally don’t have 1 of 2 starters there, maybe 2 if they are tired of paying through the nose for Short.

Quality interior olinemen are usually available via FA. OTs not so much. But you're right, Paradis needs to get his ish together pronto. Banking on a full offseason of being healthy will return him back to form. Hopefully he isn't another Matt Kalil situation.

Could definitely see Brown or Kinlaw at #7, then an OT in the 2nd. Either way, draft for talent not position. That ish will backfire every time.

In 2019, Ogletree appeared in 13 games for the Giants and recorded 80 tackles, one sack, one interception and six pass defenses.

Martin, 28, is a former third-round draft pick by the Cardinals out of North Carolina back in 2014

He spent most of 2019 on injured reserve. In 2019, Martin played in five games for the Giants and recorded six total tackles.
