Tank Mode engaged ..

WOW!!

If we are going full Tank mode.. Which 1st moves is letting Cam go (he ain't tanking).. Getting rid of older players with big contracts now and take the hit now...... But Jmo you still need to start and rebuild some parts of this team by signing some younger cheaper options in FA.. And concentrated on 1 side of the ball... Either go ahead and try to get the defense straight now.. Or get the offense ready for Lawrence to step in and go... What would you do this offseason??

Stop with the tanking talk. If we were tanking we would definitely trade Cam and Trai would've been traded for picks rather than a 31 year old LT.

Rebuilding doesn't necessarily equal tanking.

Not to mention, tanking is tough to pull off in the NFL. Even if you do opt to try and tank, it largely ends up being unsuccessful.

We're clearly trying to go younger in some positions, and shed unnecessary salary in positions of lesser importance which leans toward the talk of analytics we've heard about.

People need to chill with perceiving intent of active tanking in every move.

I see some of you are a little bit sensitive.. But the question still stands..

"If" we're going for Trevor.. What would you do this offseason?? Go hard on rebuilding the defense or work on putting a offense together that Lawrence can come in and run with??

Making trades on draft day picking up 2021 draft picks

Also trading Cam and CMAC would be 100% clearly tanking! I keep reminding people tanking is an organizational decision an the head coach just tries to steer the ship the best he can! I don't advocate, encourage or a fan of tanking at all! I also really believe that it's on the table for 2020!

I think things are set up right now to:

(1) Build a front-7 from scratch with (4) Shaq, Burns, Miller, Haynes as starting pieces

(2) Acquire new weapons (TE, Min. 2 WRs)

(3) Retool the OL (Okung in at LT, add a swing lineman (Adeniji?), FA, and we've got Daley, Moton, Little to figure out)

And I will caution two things:

(1) That our secondary and OL may not be addressed in a long term sense

(2) We have $33 mil in cap consuming past/current/dead money for the LT spot combined for 2020.  Do not expect major moves.  Maybe 1 FA signing that was a good starter in 2019.  2 if we're lucky.

Just depends if this coaching staff and the players they get are a hit year 1.  You never know in the NFL.  I have a good feel about some, meh about others.  Overall, excited for the reboot/retool/rebuild, whatever you want to call it.

So which would you do?. Attack the defensive side heavily added a few offensive pieces later in the draft and FA or Build up the offense and attack the defense next year??

I like building the front-7 defense but staying open for weaponry if there's someone too good to pass on.  If this means heavy defensive draft but maybe offense sprinkled in, that's how it shakes out.

FA comes first so I would target a few particular things to create the condition for a building block draft:

-Another offensive lineman.  Likely a swing type but a starter at LG.  Won't be a top one though but hopefully we can find better than GVR.

-A starting caliber CB that is realistic.  I think we're looking more at a Juston Burris type.  Younger, but won't be super pricey.  Could be part of the team long term.

-1 WR to allow for flexibility high in the draft.  Again, we're not going after top guys so I imagine we're looking at a Rashard Higgins type

This would allow us to build the front 7 and not feel things are getting neglected.  We have holes in every facet of the game right now.   I also think we're low key looking at TEs in the draft and hard.  Harrison Bryant & Cole Kmet are the two i love.

    • "If you could change any one instant in Carolina Panther history, ... just ONE, ... what would it be? Initial gut reaction when I first thought of this question is Kasay kicks it in bounds on the kickoff, but unfortunately I still think New England wins that game even with that My second instinct was pulling Bene out before he breaks his leg in the playoffs. My crackpot theory is if he never gets hurt we win the superbowl. I refuse to go back and watch the game but at some point Peyton throw an absolute duck that should have been pick 6'd. but because we were on our like fifth outside corner he was slow to the ball. this would have completely flipped that game because I'm pretty sure Denver scored that drive and the next one was the Cam sack fumble

    • 1a. Drafted Tom Brady in the 5th round. 1b. Might be an unpopular opinion, but when Reid was let go in Philly, k would have fired Rivera and brought him in. It was obvious he was an offensive genius. Coaches like Reid don't come available often.
