Checkout the videos of NYC from this past weekend. Maybe 5% mask usage in these big street parties.

Of all the places....

They have eliminated all the elderly up there, so it might not matter.

Sarcasm of course

I just wish they would hurry up with a vaccine already.  A vaccine would calm people down.  Prioritize health care workers and the most vulnerable and then work our way down.  There are some being tested now,  hopefully they can get cleared and start getting people their shots before winter.

I still believe that a good vaccine is going to lag significantly behind what people's expectations are. Hopefully I am wrong about that.

I wouldn't rush to get in line to take a vaccine that was ready by Oct/Nov.

Heck, even one that's 50% effective is better than nothing.  It's no different than the seasonal flu shot where they have no idea going into the "flu season" which strain will be most prevalent.  That's the reason people still catch the flu despite getting a shot.  The point is it saves some people from getting sick or worse, dying, while giving the populace in general the idea that they are safe.

The flu season a couple of years ago claimed an estimated 61,000 lives.  This was with a vaccine available.

I won't either unless I'm mandated to.  I've never voluntarily taken a vaccine, only when I've had to.  As I get older, that may change.  If I were an elderly person during this pandemic, I would certainly think about it.

well, I am pro vaccine.

but if one is ready before this winter it would be put out too quickly for me to line up to get one.

I have never had the flu vaccine. Just had the flu once in my life. I will probably start doing it when I get older and am at a higher risk.

Trust me, we're wearing masks.

Those videos you saw were from "happy hour" streets in the Village and SoHo full of young, mostly liberal, fairly well off douchebags drinking their craft beer and wine. They just HAVE to be seen. Go a WEEK without drinking with Chad and Sara? ARE YOU KIDDING ME???

*Knocks on wood*  The death rate is still inching down.  I hope the trend continues!   The confirmed cases are obviously still climbing, but the death curve is flattening out and has been heading that way for a little while.

I never trusted the flu vaccines and have personally know two people who have had horrendous side effects. If I have the flu, my ass stays home. But I haven’t had the flu in 20 years.

I wouldn’t get the COVID initially vaccine either. I’d wait and let others be the Guinea pigs first. After that I’d still have to think about it.

You are a visionary for sure

The medical numbers have told us since Jan to keep older folks and those with underlying health conditions safe.  For all the hyperbole and sensational headlines, it pretty much stands true today.  Like we were arguing 300 pages ago, if we could keep grandma away from the grandchildren, we could have operated like normal and probably not have shut the economy down.

But, we shut the world down and did not keep grandma safe, we moved Covid patients into grandmas room.

Dr Scholls indeed might have done a better job

Wow what a stupid thing to write

    • This draft is 2023 all over again, it's not hard to see. QB's who don't grade out as high first round prospects while at the same time, the following draft class looks to be loaded with elite QB prospects. Drafting a QB just because you need one (or making a bad trade to make said draft pick), when there isn't one worthy of that draft pick, is how you ruin franchises, just look at us right now.
    • I upgraded to the S24+ a few weeks back. Very happy with it.
    • LOL... Yet again proving you can't look below anything than what you see on the surface Mock drafts ARE NOT draft grades They are what people think will happen.  They are mocking teams taking QB's in the top 5 of the draft because that's just historically how drafts go regardless of the grades on the QBs.  Almost every draft expert, even those mocking QB's going high, have said time and time again that none of these QB's actually grade out as those type of picks. This is again, where I say you don't like to actually read what I have to say, because I already explained it. 2022 the exact same thing happened, mock drafts had guys like Pickett and Willis going in the Top 5 because that's just what teams usually do, but GM's listened to their prospect grades and knew they weren't worth taking that high, so they didn't. It's not to say QB's won't go that high this year, but it's to say that they aren't graded out as elite QB prospects.   And yes, I've never said I'm not a T-Mac homer. But me being that doesn't change that he will be the highest graded offensive player in this year's draft, at a position we haven't been able to solve since we lost Smitty.  Taking him makes all the sense in the world, my bias aside.
