Burris, 26, is a former fourth-round pick of the Jets back in 2016 out of NC State. He was in the third year of his four-year, $2.89 million contract when the Jets waived in October of 2018.

The Jets re-signed Burris to their practice squad after he cleared waivers but was signed by the Browns off their taxi squad after a week. Cleveland elected to decline to tender a qualifying offer to Burris last year, but later re-signed him to a one-year, $645,000 deal.

In 2019, Burris appeared in 14 games for the Browns and recorded 32 tackles, one sack, two interceptions, a forced fumble and seven pass defenses.

At least we can all admit we’ve never heard of these guys. If you’ve never heard of them, hard to have a strong opinion them.

Id also like to add, these deals are not being made without the endorsement of the head coach we just signed to 7 years and 62.5 million plus his Baylor buyout cost.

That being said I can’t say these are good or bad signings because I don’t know the players nor do I know the plan for them.

Just wanted to be a voice of reason before we see 15 pages of blind rage towards Hurney and players they know nothing about.

Doesn't look like a retool FA so far. I will give them some time though still early in the FA process. I wasn't expecting big names to begin with, but I also wasn't expecting no names. I never heard of any of these two players and we are giving them decent money.lol

Why are we giving these guys so much money? Like just give him 2 and Weatherly 4. The Vikings beat writer was surprised we gave him that much and 4 million for a guy Ive never heard of.....

Hurney is going to screw our comp picks paying big money for backup level players.

    • Bryce and Dave will determine how many games this team wins next year. It’s not on the WRs. The RBs. LBs. This is about 2 things: 1. Can Bryce continue to come up big in the few key downs that decide most games?  2. Can Canales evolve his play calling to counter punch like the big boys do. Half time adjustments.  teams that score 30+ points on the regular win more games than not. That’s on Bryce and Dave. The offense is top 10 at every position group, save for TE and QB. A baller TE is gravy but not crucial when the receivers are dudes.  The defense is the defense. It’ll be better this season, hopefully by a large margin, but Dave/Bryce is really where it’s at.
    • Normally I'd wholeheartedly agree with this. But I feel like teams figured out this offense after the Raiders game. Bryce was so inept the first 2 games that we couldn't really even run the offense. Dalton's first game showed what we had. But after that game, coverages got a lot tighter and windows were smaller. When Bryce came back in, his ability to extend plays made a big difference. It's really difficult to stop a QB that can beat/escape 1on1 tacklers. It puts a lot of pressure on the defense when you blitz. And he was completing throws in tight coverage with anticipation. Point being Bryce wasn't throwing to wide open receivers that were schemed open by the offense. Occasionally yes. But not often.
    • With the additions we've made to our roster combined with the state of the division and the conference as a whole there is no excuse for this team not to make a legitimate push for 8-9 wins. Anything less is honestly inexcusable. There will be no more free passes for being a doormat in this iteration of the league where even mediocre teams are competing for playoff spots.
