A failure to trade Christian McCaffrey will cost us Trevor or Fields

We've all seen what McCaffrey can do, he can break games open, and will win even the worst team in the NFL to a couple of wins.

You don't think if CMC was on the Bengals last year they eke out 2 extra wins?  There will be a few 200 yard CMC games that we unfortunately win if we don't trade him.

On the other hand, by the time Lawrence is in his 2nd season, CMC will be an old and broken down running back on a maximum salary.

So there's no reason to hang on to CMC.  He costs us draft position this year, and won't be in his prime by the time our new QB is ready.

The only reason to keep him at this point would be to sell tickets and merch.  So this is a test of how bad Tepper wants to win versus make money.

He'll be out of his prime at 24? Awful post. Not saying we won't trade him because we're going for 0-16, but trading the best RB in the NFL would further prove to me that Tepper doesn't want to win, doesn't want fans to come to the stadium and wants a new stadium -- elsewhere. Consider more than just your feelings that you hate tanking and will whine incessantly about us losing as you currently push for tanking.

He was born on June 7, 1996

We draft Lawrence in the summer of 2021, by the time he's in his second season, CMC is 26 years old (unless you think we're winning a Super Bowl with with a rookie QB).

Yes a 26 year old RB is very much past his prime in the modern NFL.

CMC with this roster will still net us a top 5 pick. Our defense is going to be worse this year. We don’t have Cam. It’s a wash of a season.

Top 5 pick isn't good enough.

We need a top 2 pick, and probably top 1 (Fields is risky).

What is this obsession to tank for 2021...

that worked out horribly for the Colts. They had some playoff runs with Andrew but it did not result in a Super Bowl and he lost his desire to even play football.

its just stupid to tank for a future where the success of future draft picks is impossible to predict

Trading CMC would tank ticket sales. Only player on the roster left worth paying to see how that Cam is assuredly gone

it's 2020. people aren't going through the trouble of going to a game they know they're going to lose just because they have a thing for the running back. cash out on this running back while you still can. the alternative is having perhaps the highest paid running back in league history (lol) on what will still be a shitty team. won't be long until people look back at this moment and say "we really should have gotten value out of our running back while we could"

He’ll be old and broken down right after he turns 26? He’s still 23 right now. Might as well trade Moore. He’ll be a dinosaur as well since he’s only 1 year younger than CMC.

Wide receivers can play well into their 30s.

Running backs fall off a cliff in their mid 20s.

It's just a statistical fact, with a few very rare outliers.

They sure were in 2019. In December home games, probably 80 percent of all Panthers fans there were wearing 22 jerseys or shirts.

    • Roger all that. Do you think BY avoided any sacks last game? This oline is not what you're touting them to be. They are much better then 2023! Much much much better than 2023. But come on now, you'd expect this expensive oline (most are run blocking specialist) to at least dominate in the run game every game.  And... I keep telling you our WRs and TEs are not that good yet. I mean last Sunday was a prime example. Our receiving targets never make plays like those. Never. And this is from one of the worst teams in the league. Shough could have easily had 3 INTs if not for his receivers making plays on the ball. Our guys just don't do that. XL almost allowed an INT backing up out of bounds instead of coming to the ball. And everyone would have blamed that on BY. That's why he doesn't throw to that dude. I can't recall a game except maybe the second Falcons game - maybe, where I thought our receivers could possibly be better than the other team's. I think TMac and Coker have a lot of potential. But they're aren't consistent. But they're young and WILL improve. I'm confident of that.  I don't agree that BY was drafted to only stand in the pocket. He has always been best off schedule - for better or worse.
    • Do you think you will get a direct answer?  Icky giving up 5 pressures (playing hurt in his defense) by himself and Bryce only getting sacked once tells you he played well in the pocket.  He extended plays and converted some tough downs.
    • I've been very apprehensive about potentially firing yet another head coach. But Canales needs to focus on being a head coach first and foremost and begin handing off some responsibilities like playcalling duties and begin overseeing the entire team or we need to assess all possible ideal HC candidates in the offseason.
