Round 5, pick #152 Panthers select XFL (formerly West Virginia) Safety Kenny Robinson

Panthers selected XFL S Kenny Robinson with the No. 152 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Robinson (6’2/198) was a two-year starting free safety at West Virginia before he was kicked out of school for academic fraud. Because he’s only three years removed from high school, Robinson was draft-eligible despite playing in the XFL last season (21 tackles in five games). He has quality coverage and ball skills -- he played some corner in college -- but needs to be more physical against the run to be a starter in the NFL. Robinson’s off-field character is in question, but he has the athleticism and ballhawking traits to compete for defensive snaps at safety on Sundays.

How the hell did he enter the draft after going pro on the XFL? Doesn’t make any sense. Why didn’t we just signed him. We did with Walker

but Rhule is clearly building a very tall secondary

    • I don't really care as much about athleticism and arm strength.  While Murray might be better in that regard, I think Bryce has enough of both to do well in the NFL. The main reason this trade reference is silly is the money and the fact that Murray has been around a long while and hasn't proven that he can perform consistently when the game is on the line.  Bryce has shown that he can play well in the clutch (in the few opportunities he has had).
    • If Bryce can continue the level of play he showed after the benching, then there's a good shot we at least compete to win the division. Tampa is a solid team but even last year in our week division they went 10-7 and will be on their 4th OC in as many years. The Saints are a mess and are in a mist of a half rebuild half still trying to compete mode and will probably be starting a rookie QB. The Falcons are a wild card as they have a really good offense but are we really crowning Michael Penix as a franchise QB after just 3 games?  The only thing I want out of this season is for Bryce to come out and without a shadow of a doubt prove he's our franchise QB. If that happens then most of the fanbase would be happy and I believe we'd be in a good place record wise at the end of the season. Maybe falling just short of winning the division with a chance to sneak in as a wild card team.
    • His daughter's initials are CAM.  Coincidence? I think not
