Tepper speaks, says "some fans" should be at games this year

Carolina Panthers owner David Tepper told CNBC on Wednesday that he believes the NFL could play games this season with "some fans" in attendance.

"There should be some amount of fans in the stadiums, depending on what locale and where you are and what the local rules are. There could possibly be," the billionaire hedge fund manager said on "Halftime Report."

"You won't be having full stadiums, but that doesn't mean you can't have some fans in the stadium either," he said. "If you're comfortable being in a closed airplane for a cross-country trip, 18 inches apart, maybe with two seats in between you and being 5 feet away from each other, you might be comfortable in an open-air stadium."

In my personal view this is about as optimistic as anyone can be at this point. Games without any fans is far more likely.

...so who decides who goes and who does not ?

The team of course. I see 2 possibilities.

1. Refund all PSL tickets bought and sell them again with some sort of lottery system. Wouldn't surprise me if they jacked up the prices since it's a more exclusive product.

2. Rotate PSL ticket holders on multi game basis. 3 games. I/3 at each one.

At least it's a rebuilding year. A refund is actually attractive to me this year.

    • It would depend on how we lost... If we lose a bunch of 17-13 . 20-7 type games where the defense plays well and offensively Bryce is sh***TING the bed...then he wouldn't get fired.  If we are losing 40-9, 38-14 type games..then yeah it's a possibility.   Couple that with our tough schedule.. if we show well in lets say half those games.. win either Seattle or New England game, at least 1 win vs division oponents.. he's good.  So imo.. to get fired he needs to : Loose badly against the top tier teams ie Blown out Show no progress offensively from last year. Show an unwillingness to bench Bryce again if he is horrible over multiple games ..  Get swept by the Saints again.
    • I think he's gone, and rightfully so, if he turns in another losing record. The "talented roster," regardless of how true or not, is a double-edged sword. If the roster is so much improved now from 202X then why are you still producing losing seasons? On one hand, maybe that's what needs to happen. Have the GM hire the new coach, and then have the new coach pick his guy to run his system. That is typically how it works in the NFL. Not the forced inheritance deal we have had in place.
    • Hinging on Brooks to be our spark...be good if it happens... but not holding my breath....RB next draft. Morgan gambled...it would be a 2 year payoff if thing happened.
