‘We need more Panthers players to step up.’

Why should Panther players (human beings) be any different from anyone else?  This is a problem that we should all address.  When an authority figure, who we are supposed to respect, goes off the ranch, everyone, not just sports stars, should be upset.

To any and all of our players who might be lurking we say GET LOUD. We’ve always had your back on this.

What does "GET LOUD" imply?

How does it manifest itself in day-to-day behaviour?

When it's all said and done, we'll come out of this with a better country.

Can we be better people, though, and see that it doesn't all go for naught?

Most people just don’t care.  They are busy living their “American Dream”.  But who needs to care are the cops.  This country has been moving in the right direction over the last decade but it seems the cops did not get the memo.

Seeing is believing and phone cameras have helped and hindered, but in these cases, there is no walking away from the shock of seeing someone who has authority over you blatantly violate the law he is there to uphold.  How to best crack the egg and fix these things will not be an easy fix with the bureaucracies that exist.  The country is overall a good place, but has not taken seriously the things it should have.  You cannot have a civil society with law enforcers being law breakers.  Just as all cops are not horrible, so goes with the rioters.  You cannot broad brush either group or you end up nowhere.  The hard part is the weeding out of individuals, or even entire staffs of law enforcement if they have been complicit.  It will be a long process.

The minority community has the ears of the country at this point, what will they do with it?  I hope something good.  This might even be a harder nut to crack.  Once you have the attention of those who need to hear you, stepping up with being part of the process of fixing these issues is next on the agenda.  Not sure I trust any DC politician to help the process at all.  They live from one election to the other making promises, only to keep power and not much changes.

I really feel that local level solutions might end up being better than DC solutions.  But again, I am not law enforcement, I am not African American and I despise politicians.  Injustice however, is not to be tolerated.

    • I think they are holding back to see what they have in the young guys, but I think it's a near certainty at some point they will bring someone else in. Right now (assuming we keep 5 CBs which is normal), the top 5 IMO are: 1) Jaycee Horn 2) Mike Jackson 3) Chau Smith-Wade 4) Shemar Bartholomew  5) Akayleb Evans   Obviously Jaycee is the alpha in that room and paid as such. Need him to stay healthy and continue to play at a Pro-Bowl level. Mike Jack did pretty well all things considered last year, and they gave him lower-level starter money. Fair deal for both sides.  Smith-Wade showed some promise as a slot CB. I think low-key he's a lock for the team. Different size and skill set than the other CBs. Shemar Bartholomew was the most sought after waiver claim last preseason. Was 5th CB most and inactive most of last year. Had a few defensive and ST snaps. Nothing of note good or bad but too small a sample size to make any judgment. Akayleb Evans was a 2022 4th Rounder for the Vikings. Has started 19 games (including Week 18 for the Panthers) in his career and played in 43. Was pretty good in 2023 before getting injured and falling down the depth chart last year. There's some other guys on the outside looking in, but until they show more in training camp I dont see anyway they make the 53. And only Jaycee, Mike Jack, and Smith-Wade are locks to make this roster IMO.
    • Was just reading the Ask the Old Guy story on the team's website and was shocked to see that only two 2nd Rounders have signed so far, 30 of them haven't. That isn't normal, the Texans really screwed things up for the rest of the league, no other explanation that I can think of for 30 of the 32 picks to still be unsigned at this point.
    • They need to address CB before season starts. This is not going to cut it.
